Hi All, I’m new to today’s Gaming Gen. I played when my kids were young. They grew up & out, taking the systems.
W/ COVID gaming was a way to keep contact w/ my grands. Mostly my GD. 17 yr. old GS games are not for me. 12/2020 I got a Switch (GD has). She said, get ACNH. GD's grades dropped, I'm on my own & hooked. An open invite went out yesterday. I took the leap. It’s hard typing w/a controller! :mad:I got pears at Nooks & traded cherries for apples. Caveman like, dropping cherries, "you need?" It was not a long visit. :LOL:Today I Googled & here I am. I'm hoping to learn & make Island friends. Thank you for letting me join! Gran

Welcome GamerGran! I actually just got my mom a Switch Lite for her bday in December and she's been hooked on ACNH too!

Not sure if you have a smartphone, but if you do then you can download the Nintendo Switch Online app and that will let you type message into the game from your phone. It's must faster than having to use the controller!

Also, I saw in another post you were wondering what IGB and TBT are sooo...
lGB = In Game Bells. These are the bells you get in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
TBT = TBT is the currency used on this forum. If you look below your profile image/avatar or my profile image/avatar you will see it says "Bells:" with a number across from it. You can use these bells that we call TBT to buy fun little icons like the ones below my profile image from the Shop here on the website.

Talk to you soon!

Thank you Ganucci :) for the welcome & explanation. I guess I will learn the acronyms as time goes by. Same goes for the rules of giving/trading etc. Right now, I get stuff I don't want or need, buy too many clothes. Often doubles or triples because I forget AND gifting my residents. Their return gifts are mostly weird, but they are so darn cute... I smile as they rip me off. LOL
I also learned, to fish successfully earbuds are a must!

The more I get into ACNH, the more complex it becomes. Sanrio, Amiibo and Discord are unknown to me. Trying to keep track of my storage, what gifts to give to who and March is coming to a close & the string fish still eludes me. I have more flowers than I know what to do with but I do water them everyday unless it rains :) I have several Excel sheets. Do villagers know if something was gifted 2x? I lost track LOL@ME

I apologize for my semi-rant. I love the game. It seems made so interaction with live players becomes essential. Covering new ground is always uncomfortable at first. I'm glad I found this forum. I will read through the beginners section. :)

This game has become much more complex than the original, but ultimately you can always find a way to get what you want out of it. Don't worry about missing or breaking anything; with a little time travel or a couple forum posts, we can always help you find what you want. Don't stress and welcome!

Hi @GamerGran and welcome!

My name is Chris and my role on The Bell Tree is to help with the day-to-day running of the forum. I have merged both of your introduction threads into one to keep all of the salutations together in one place. If you haven't done so already I would recommend checking out our Frequently Asked Questions About The Bell Tree to learn the ins and outs of the website. If you need any help navigating the forum and it's features feel free to ask in The Information Desk, Contact the Staff, or you can message me directly if you would prefer.

Also, I can absolutely relate to your struggle of typing on the Switch. I communicate almost entirely in reactions for this very reason. 😂

Welcome GamerGran! :)
I wouldn’t worry about the stringfish - many of us on the forum are still struggling to try and catch it! Haha
This forum is very friendly so I hope you enjoy your time here - if you need anything at all please don’t hesitate to message me! I’d be glad to help out :)
See you around!
