Well, they could always change their names. Hey, happened with GCN Sally into Cally.
My ideas? Champagne into Lemonade, and Nosegay into Septum. That way, they keep their references to beverages, and to a part of the nose.

Champagne. Really ? Is it all that bad ? I mean kids know alcohol exist. It's not promoting the use of alcohol if you name a character Champagne. Sonetimes... censorship really goes beyond anything reasonable.

Champagne is nine letters long, whilst the limit on villager's names is eight (unless they change it in HHD). They're likely to change it for the English release - not all Japanese names that are translated into English are the English names of the villagers.

So far it seems that Carrie is the only villager returning from the gamecube version.
Which is odd, but considering that she's in every single promotional material since the e3 trailer.
It's not a huge shock.
But the game just came out in Japan, so we'll have to wait and see.

I hope not, I don't understand why they would only bring back one, especially when there are so many other requested villagers
Didn't they say there would be 400+ villagers or something? There are 333 villagers in New Leaf, and around 60 Special villagers that could appear (this doesn't include the snowmen or the special characters that aren't physically seen, such as Wishy the Star, the Clerk, Emcee, etc) from all of the games (including Farley from the earlier games, Frillard, Kaitlin, Wisp) which include Isabelle's two outfits. Assuming the ones I counted, that should total to 393 characters, plus Carrie and the two new characters, meaning we have 396 characters.
I could imagine them adding other older characters or other new villagers, but we haven't seen any others as of yet
EDIT: It's confirmed that there will be 400 Amiibo cards, which may or may not include the two DLC characters, or more 'special characters' (New special characters? Others I didn't really 'count' such as the snowmen? Alternate costumes like with Isabelle?)

When they first showed Carrie I thought that they'd bring more new villagers back, but after seeing a little of the gameplay, I'm doubtful there are anymore, and Carrie is probably going to be the only one, because her inclusion makes sense. I'll put why in a spoiler 'cause it's kinda spoilery to the storyline of the game
So yeah, makes sense for Carrie to be in the game based on that, and not anyone else. Additionally, there is 333 villaagers in NL, and then add Carrie makes 334. There are going to be 400 amiibo cards, and the villagers alone make up 334/400 cards. Which leaves 66 spaces for special NPC characters, and since there is 17 in the first series, if they planned to add 17 villagers into all four series, 17 x 4 is 68, and add that to 334 is a total of 402. So all they have to do is remove 2 NPC's and they'll have a perfect 400.
This list (https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Category:Special_characters) has a total of 64 special characters (that I counted anyway), which is only 2 shy away from the total 66 we need for a perfect 400, and granted, it includes characters such as Wishy (who don't have any physical appearances), but it doesn't include characters that have alternate costumes - and since Isabelle and K.K. Slider both appear in Series 1 and 2 in different outfits, it's a safe bet that we'll probably get other NPC characters in different costumes (most likely Nook and Tortimer).
So yeah, with all that said, I'm gonna go ahead and say it's very unlikely we'll get any more new villagers besides Carrie, and if we do, it's going to be a very small amount.

Once you build the school on Mini Main Street, Carrie gets word of it, and moves in from a far away place along with her child, because she wants her child to go to school there.
So it makes sense for Carrie to be in the game, as she comes from a far away place (ie; the GC version), and wants to bring her child to this new neighbourhood.

I really hope so! I think it would be a great idea to have all the old villagers come back. I don't like it when they remove certain villagers from new games because I might really like the ones that they removed. I also hope they create some new characters for this game and the next animal crossing game for the wii u.

1) if they were actually in the game we'd have actual screenshots of their houses by now, and we don't, we just have the icons

3 Louie wears a luigi shirt, not a Mario shirt as seen in the pic. The Mario shirt is worn by Alfonso

Which further proves it's fake because just look at the art for some of the villagers, and also, there's no way they can have all the Special Characters yet because they can only get the ones that have amiibo cards (so there's no way they could have gotten pave or Wendell for example)
