We all know AC:WW's online was mostly ruined by AR's, seeding, and all that.

Do you think that will happen again?

Does Nintendo have the ability to patch the game? I know they said they can do real downloadable content now, but can they patch something like seeded items again if they come around...?

I just hope the online doesnt get ruined again...

Well do they have AR or other cheating devices made for the Wii?

I was wondering that myself, I looked it up and it seems some sort of cheating device exists, but I dont see the thing itself anywhere.

Guess if it comes to that the only thing you can really do is associate yourself with legitimate players.

I myself can cheat on AC - though it is a slightly more complicated process than simple AR codes with ACWW, so from what I can see, online won't be as much of a problem this time around.

Im hoping it isnt a problem, though there'll always be the "easy bells" methods, combined with time skipping, which people will always abuse to get things, but its not on the same level as a cheating device.

Yeah I don't think it will be a big problem this time around either.

And just a tip about money. On WW I found it pretty easy to get money if you have a lot of fruit that are not native in your town and make sure you have a lot of them. It may take a while to gather all the fruit but I can get around 85-95 bells in a single day. Just depends on how many non native trees...

You guys are sort of oblivious to the obvious kinda. The Wii has an SD slot.

That means ANY coding can be added to the Wii files (not directly of course) to do almost anything. Look at the Homebrew channel.

Shh! No one is suppose to know that!! Plus I really don't think there will big problems.

True enough, however its no simple means, meaning it wont be as commonplace as an AR was with ACWW, and ruin the online experience as much.

While there are people out there who can do it, its probably not going to become a widely known technique, and wont change the online much, if at all.

The question here wasn't so much if it could be done, as if it would end up driving the online experience downwards like that of Wild World's.

Twilight hack (a process in itself) -> Install homebrew channel -> Install Ocarina -> Find working cheats -> Install cheats, one by one -> Done.

Compared to buy ARDS -> Done. Cheaters will be few and far between relative to ACWW.

Agreed.

Twilight hack is somewhat mainstreamed now though, I don't think people will go through the hassle of it strictly to hack in City Folk, though the people who use it currently may, but thats a small number compared to the total demographic I suppose.

homebrew, but each time nintdneo asks for an update *hint hint*, they scan your wii for illegal hacks and roms. Unbeknownst to the hackers, they can zap points, block online access, etc.

Wow, I knew Microsoft had something like that going, but I just assumed Nintendo Over-rode the hacks with each update, whereas the hackers then over-rode the update, in a neverending stalemate.

I never knew they could single people out, thats really quite interesting.

well also, if you read the user agreement (which I took it upon my self to do one morning at 4 a.m.), I think it states not to hack, or there will be consequences. I think they can brick your wii. But the homebrewers developed a program to override updates, and in a sense, skip them and go straight to the game...

Ah, I see.

Well its needless to say that Nintendo wouldn't condone hacking, for any of their systems.
But with the Wii and online, now they can finally do something about it at the very least.

At least City Folk's online will be a better experience than Wild World's was, not to say that it was bad, but it just didn't live up to its potential due to hacks.

and also because the voice chat didn't work with it.

Not quoting in order to avoid a massive box. lol.

But yeah, voice chat would've added a bit to it, but even so I think i may end up using a wireless keyboard over WiiSpeak in City Folk... I dunno how I feel about about WiiSpeak, ill probably get one, but im just not sure...

yea, i might get one for voice chatting with close friends, but other than that, just a regular keyboard.

Homebrew is perfectly legal. It's only if you made modifications to the actual Hardware that Nintendo will brick your Wii.

I figured as much, I have the Homebrew channel, and nothing happened to me, but I dont hack or anything.

Nintendo honestly would be pretty hypocritical if they banned Homebrew too, what with making their Memory cards SD cards and all...Thats just asking for it...
