Okay so I feel like I'm very crunched for time with school and I have to pick my schedule after break. I'm an artist and want to make a career out of it but since I have so many homework assignments, it makes drawing time very very scarce. But I got some advice from this person and they told me to pick the easiest classes, so I'll have time for drawing. My mom wouldn't care and nobody is stopping me but, I just don't know if this is a good decision, but on the other hand I really need that extra time at home for art since I'm certain thats what I want to do.

So annoying sometimes...How is school for you? Doesn't have to be high school obviously haha

I'm willing to put everything into what I do. I'm an artist too, and I know many artists who have abandoned their whole livelihoods to dedicate themselves to what they are most passionate about. Starving artists, even.

I think it's a very individual thing. Life is short, and you can spend it how you like. If you would be happy just making your art and trying to make that work, then do it. As corny as it sounds, you can't let your dreams just be dreams. Work hard and you can do anything.

Speaking for myself, I focus on my art. All the time. It's the most prominent thing in my life right now, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you get As in the easiest classes you'll still get into college if that's what you're wondering

If theres 1 thing i've learned, its to fake it til' you make it. School isn't that hard so long as you have a plan to everything.

Seems okay I guess. :)
Currently have all A's with all Honors.
But... the drama. o_O

Fights happen in school alot too.
Unfortunately, some people I know, and care about, get into this trash.
Let's not forget about gangs either. :/

I don't do honors, AP, etc. I know that sounds ridiculous but the few times I've tried honors classes they've always been disasters. Maybe because I'm stupid or something, but I just want to get High School done. I'm doing all the other things that will help get into college, and I do well enough in the classes I have now. But I know I'm not going to be a doctor, or a lawyer or some kind of person who has hundreds of thousands of dollars in my bank. I know that's not what my life is going to be. I want to be happy, and how I see my future is what is going to make me happy.. But you can't plan everything, y'know? I just think that education is important but flawed in a sense.

What am I even rambling about?

I wouldn't take a class just because it's easy and gives you time to draw (or whatever else)...You have to go to school anyway, so why waste that time picking classes purely based on how much homework you get rather than learning even a small bit of something that could benefit you in the future? You're going to be 'wasting' time in classes regardless, so make the most of it instead of making it a total waste of your time.

I'm not going to throw anecdotes of when I was in school around, just try not to make decisions you may regret later. You're obviously not going to know whether or not those decisions were 'wrong' until it's all over and done with, but it'll be a real bummer for you if a few years down the line you end up thinking "damn, really should taken math instead of advanced juggling. Years wasted!".

If you're trying to get into a competitive college, I think that's when you should be taking Honors and AP classes. However, if you take the basic, required classes that aren't necessarily Honors or AP, just needed for graduating, I think that's fine if you're heading to Community College, maybe even art school (not sure since I'm not an art major)

In the end you're not hired because if your good grades in high school. College even. It's the experience you have to prove you can get the job done.

Sometimes the will to study doesn't hit you until you're older.
I hated school when I was younger so I totally understand the common (pre)teenager mentality and reluctance of studying and school.
Seriously I couldn't be bothered when I was younger, I did the bare minimum to get by. Epitome of average student all throughout, and once I got to HS I barely even went to most classes because I'd either be a lazy bum sleeping, go over my friends house instead, or I'd actually make it to school but just leave the building middle of the day.

Now look at me! Went to community college eventually, actually enjoyed my science based classes and fast forward I'm in my almost mid-twenties in a graduate program for medicine. I'm still a complete dingus, but studying for me now is enjoyable and I truly love learning all about pathophysiology and medicine.

School is either heaven or hell for me. It depends on the situation I'm currently in.

I ****ing hate school. I'm so tired of it. Luckily I am set to graduate from undergraduate school this December

School gets you ready for life, it puts you in a schedule. Wake up early, get dressed, drive or catch a bus to your school/workplace and then finish later in the day.
But my biggest problem with school is that they expect you to learn fast and get snappy. Some people have learning disabilities (such as myself), and have trouble grasping some concepts (not so much me, but others I know). I have a wee bit of trouble in maths but overall I'm better at it than what I used to be. But I guess that's what special education is for.
Also, some people have severe anxiety (me) and/or depression and can't even get out of bed. They expect you to have a good attendance (which is understandable -- work) but in my blunt opinion, as long as you get the work done, you should be excused.
And you're forced to do subjects you have no interest in. You should have to have a minimum of three subjects imo.
Then there's the pressing issue: Bullying. Most teachers turn a blind eye to it and just leave the outcasts to die inside. No wonder school shootings are so much more common nowadays; it's people getting revenge.

Sorry if I just rambled but I have so many problems with the education system and school in general.

I feel like I didn't give a **** because it was all classes I either didn't like or they felt pointless to learn. Now I LOVE learning now that I'm in college for something I'll actually use and am interested in. ^^ College is definitely more fun than high school or elementary!

I didn't try. My attendance was 50% at one point. I was an hour late basically every day and the people working at reception must have gotten really tired of seeing my face all the time. I had awful anxiety and low mood at that time but at the same time I didn't bother.
Overall, my teachers were good. All the PE teachers were asses though and the teachers who taught the lower groups like English and Science often treated their classes like dirt. I had to look after my sister a lot of the time too. School was really stressful and I didn't make any real friends until Year 10/high school.

The best advice I can give you is to not limit your options. If I showed my high school self where I'd be 10 years later I would never have believed it. In high school I was passionate about literature and wanted to be an author. Now I'm 25 and in medical school. You will change in ways that you'll never expect over the next few years, so you need to be prepared for those changes.

With regards to class selection, if you just mean taking regular level classes instead of AP/IB then absolutely that's reasonable. However, if you mean not taking a well rounded group of classes then I think you could potentially regret that.

There are things you must do that is required like up to college may be good to have as a backup just in case you decide to go on a different route in the future. Lately, it seems like a lot of expectations have gone up so they require some kind of college education for the job position.. But it really depends on what you want to do in life and if you feel like you know what you are doing and you are set, then I don't see putting education second and making drawing a priority. Everyone's case is different so I cannot speak for everyone but what's the most important is what you want to do and what you enjoy doing.

School feels like a miserable waste of time, but your grades will open doorways to further education, which opens doorways to more jobs. I honestly just want to make money solo, through websites, YouTube, businessy stuff etc.
