Every holiday season fruit cake is put on shelves where I'm from and it's commonly gifted to others. It's almost as popular, if not as popular as eggnog. Most people I've asked seem to dislike the flavor or tell me homemade is better (which I haven't tried yet).
It's not my cup of tea. Candied fruit and bread are not a good mix, but I'll still eat a couple of slices because I consider it part of the holiday tradition.

I personally like fruit cake! My parents used to make a homemade fruit cake, and it was scrumptious!

I have never tried it, but I would be open to it! I think it would work well in a smaller portion though, I do not generally eat cakes more than just to taste it usually. Not too much of a sweets person.
I picked "Where am I?" on the poll since why not. :p

Homemade.

My nanna used to make it many years ago, and put 5 cents in it. ^_^

i love fruitcake, my mum and grandma have a recipe which is really nice and we make all year round. There is also a fodovan on campus that sells really nice fruit cake for a dollar a piece :)

I’m not really a fan of fruit cake to be honest.

Where am I though?

No, really. Where am I?

personally, i don't think i've ever tried it (store bought or homemade). it certainly looks quite good, but my family has always sort of said it was gross and i guess i fell in line without ever having tried it. maybe i'll get around to making one one day and give it a go.

Uhh I’m actually not sure what that is. I’ve had those cakes that start being sold around Christmas in a round ish bag is that fruit cake? I remember there’s nuts in them too. If so I like it more than I dislike it. I hate eggnog tho

I've never tried it. Nobody that I know really eats it and I'm not the adventurous type that buys things if I don't know I'll like it, so I've never had the opportunity. I'd taste if given the chance. Who knows? It might be good.

I love candied fruits, Maina makes a very good panettone with those, but the only fruit cakes I tried are the cheap ones from the groceries that are very heavy, way too sweet and with that strange alcohol taste. Each time I think it will be super good but I'm always super disappointed. Maybe I would like some homemade.

Panettone!! That?s the word I was looking for. So I guess yes I?ve had it before xD

I have never actually tried a fruitcake. Heck, I don't think I've ever even really seen them out in the world except maybe once in a box at a store. They don't seem to have ever been a thing in my family or friend circles, and basically every instance of seeing it mentioned on the Internet or in media, it has always had a negative reputation. I guess I wouldn't be against trying at least a bite, but it admittedly doesn't really sound like my sort of thing.

Wait, Panettone is a fruit cake? I thought it was a little sponge cake, I have those all over the department at work rn.

I have never tried it, and I prob will not try either variety, the Panettone or heavy brick.

I've never tried it, but I'd probably be down to have a very small slice! I've been told it tastes a bit like zucchini bread with Skittles in it which doesn't sound too bad, but for some reason the thought of eating bread with the density of iridium in any sort of large quantity is a bit weird and off-putting. Something the size of a standard sweet bread loaf shouldn't weigh 40 lbs.

Riiiight?! Fruit cake is crazy heavy for bread and candies fruits in it. Just the little brick I have at work weighs like 5 pounds or somethin, it's not even big. It's a little longer then an actual brick and about half the height.

No it's a sweet bread, a brioche bread, like roll buns maybe... Some have candied fruits or raisins.

It's really good, Christmas morning without it, is not a real Christmas morning.
