hello people, i have a trade offer. since i have no writing motivation, i will write free lore, short stories and backstories for characters! all for the price of zero tbt! so, if you need any of these, talk to me!

writing examples:
It was raining. The inky sky was falling with endless droplets. Alone on a bench in the rain was a young girl, with a bright red coat and a pink streak in her hair.

Alone. Completely, utterly alone.

After all, she was fine. She had a perfectly normal life.

Existence had just crushed her at every turn.

Was life just a bitter joke? A punchline?

After all, she’d quit college to become a comedian! To make people smile.

But
She’d
Failed.

Everyone laughed at her expense. Falling off the stage, she’d broken her neck.

And they just laughed at her pain like it was slapstick.

She curled up into her coat, and started to cry. Rain pelted her back, like pins and needles.

The girl sobbed to no one.

What a closing show! How funny!

She laughed and cried at the same time, looking crazed. The iron bench was still freezing, yet she lied down and looked at the sky.

Life was a cruel joke with no punchline.

So who was laughing?
Shroomie, a tiny little mushroom witch, is quite cheerful! She usually starts her day with a cup of tea and a good attitude, always trying to make other people and herself happy. Shroomie also enjoys running around, foraging for mushrooms in her nearby forest. She typically can be found in forests everywhere- and will also be found looking for the nearest jar of kalamata olives. Why? That's a mystery. Pretty much everything about Shroomie is a mystery...

we went from an angsty short to shroomie, i hope i didn't give you whiplash! welp, anyways, hope you get something because... well... MOTIVATION
to get a short, just submit a character, with a mood or any small details WITH A DRAWING OR DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTER. if you're not particular, you can leave it up to my grubby little brain to figure something out- BUT I WOULDN'T TRUST ME WITH CHARACTERS! JUST SAYIN'!

edit: the way to get a short is to send a short prompt of literally anything. sorry if ya'll got confused!

i don’t have a character for you to write a backstory for but i liked your example snippets. the 1st one was amazing and i loved the shroomie snippet!

Gosh, did the comedian really break her neck, or was that hyperbole? Were those her last moments? 😨

Anyway, what kind of details do you need to create lore or backstory or whatever? A drawing? A name? Or what?

those were, in fact, her last moments-

personally, i kinda might need an idea for the character, but a drawing works too! and a name is KIND OF NEEDED-

What would you consider "an idea"? I'm not sure what kind of thing I might send you. Like, just a description of someone's appearance? Something about their role in some larger story? An archetype and a genre? A sentence? A paragraph? A page?

I suppose part of why I'm kind of confused is because I'm also a writer, so I may not see the appeal of having someone else write something for me, but I'm also very curious to see what you would do if I gave you the kind of prompt that you need. ^o^;>

i honestly... uhh... don't really know what i define as an idea- it was just originally for character backstories and shorts- i was thinking a drawing or a short description- maybe also a genre? AAAAAAA-

Maybe if you give an example of the kind of thing that someone might give you to prompt you to write? Like, what would have been the prompts for the short story and snippet in your first post?

um, for the short story it'd probably be a little angsty short, while for the snippet it'd be a little overview of the character-

Okay, then how about a more cheerful short? And another little whimsical character overview? One of each, please.

It sounds like you need more than you asked for. I think maybe I wasn't clear when I asked you for an example of a prompt. I mean, like, if another person came up to you and made a request that resulted in the short story that you wrote, what would that prompt look like? What would they have said to you?

"Write a story about a failed comedian"?

"Write a sad story that takes place in the rain"?

"There's a character, a girl with a red coat and pink hair, write a story about her"?

Because it sounds like your example prompt of "angsty short" isn't enough. I'm not sure what kind of details or suggestions you need to get started. ^o^;>

OH GOD I DIDN'T ADD ENOUGH INFO DID I-

um. they might ask "can you write a little snippet about this character" or "can you make a little short with this character, any mood is fine"

i need to update it ;w;

So, when you say "this character," which kinds of details do you need supplied? Because, for example, "can you write a short story about Jeff," probably doesn't give you much to work with. XD

just edited the thread, hopefully it's not as convoluted now!

I guess I'm having a hard time coming up with a character without a backstory already. By the time I come up with a character, I already know who they are. So, if there are certain details that would be what you need to get started, I could supply those. Or perhaps I could find some random art of characters from other things, or characters that were drawn just as art without a larger story, and then you could write stories about them?

Like, just as an example, say I asked you to write the story of the woman in the Mona Lisa painting. I could find other art with a character without a story and ask you to write that, maybe, if that sounded like something you'd like to do.

that works, actually! i can do that!

Okay!

How about a nautical sort of story about one or more of these guys? Maybe a high seas adventure, or whatever you're inspired to write. Nothing too dark or depressing, though, please. ^o^;>
