~ Outta space giveaway! ~

Closed! Thank so so much for entering everyone and giving lots of interesting takes on why it is our favourite media. I'm gonna skip the usual "everyone should win" clichés, but really I had a hard time picking winners and reading all your great entries was a great way to take my things off horrible things happening in the world right now. Prizes will now be sent out, and I hope you enjoyed both writing your entries and entering for nice collectables ♥️

Thank you so much for the opportunity! One of my favorite songs of all time is Battle of Evermore - Led Zeppelin. It is just soo moving and I saw Robert Plant and Alison Krauss sing it live with my best friend from college and we cried at how absolutely beautiful it was being sung live. ❤️ That song gives me chills man. But not as much as fish flapping out of water. 😉 [MEDIA]

May I please ask you to edit in the word "fish" somewhere in order for it to count, thank you.

This would be song entries only, please. You can mention in your entry why this would be your favourite band/singer of the song as Foreverfox did, but keep the main focus on your favourite song, thank you.

Wow what an amazing giveaway! My entry;

My favourite song, by the best group of all time (in my honest opinion)
SpiceGirls - 2 become 1

The spicegirls were the definition of my childhood and in the UK 99% of kids had one piece of their merch or cd’s😂 they were a BIG deal here, the whole idea of girl power✌🏼 and empowering women when it had been a mostly male dominated industry for a long time, i had every album they released, countless posters and merch (pepsi, chuppa chups, cadburys collabs) and they are my definition of iconic so i need to choose them and 2 become 1, even though its classed as a christmas song by some (it went #1 on christmas week, a big deal for artists) its a all year round tune which honestly many people on this forum know the words to im sure💖 it was hard to choose one of their songs as the best as i love them all!

I couldn't find a way to fit the word fish in my paragraph so here is a fish emoji🐠👀

thanks for hosting the giveaway!

my favorite song is nightcall ft. dreamhour - dead v. i didn't discover it until around february of last year and was surprised to find out it's actually been out since 2014 -- almost 10 years ago! boy, was i late to the party. it was the most listened to song on my spotify wrapped for 2021 at approximately 1,046 times. (that's the equivalent of almost three solid days (70 hours) of the song playing.) i don't even remember how i found it, which makes it feel a little like fate. it was either something i just shrugged and gave a listen to when it popped up in my youtube recommended, or it was one of the "recommended songs" at the bottom of my spotify playlist. either is likely. the first thing i do in the morning is listen to it (with headphones) at full volume before getting up. there's just something about it. the beat, the chorus, how the bell-sound at the very beginning is reminiscent of a funeral toll, tying into said lyrics. it's also a special song now since, in my head, i have a 'trailer' that goes along to the beats of the choruses in particular, featuring my two main ocs and all the tragedy that befalls them, including an iconic shootout. i imagine it every time i listen to the song in the morning, and it's just so fitting. even the instrumental version alone slaps hard, although i still prefer the vocal version. i don't know, man !! i just vibe with it !! i feel it in my bones.

fish. (haha, that's my cat's name.)

I have a lot of favorite songs, but recently, this one, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, has been hitting close to home, so I've been listening to it a lot. Thinking about all the friends who I've lost touch with over the pandemic and then crying lmaooo.

oh and fish are cool

My favorite movie is Karate Kid. I love the whole trilogy, but the first one is my favorite. I have a really strong appreciation for this movie. I met Ralph Macchio (Daniel Larusso) in person. He inspired me to take martial arts because I was bullied, similar to him in the movie. I gained a lot of confidence thanks to martial arts and I think the movie played a big part in me actually starting. Oh, and he autographed my Black Belt, which I earned in Tang Soo Do. I attached the photos below. 🥋 Fish.

For this entry, I’m going to go with book as my choice. The book in particular is North of Beautiful by Justina Chen.
73D436AE-2225-4B27-A05E-96CCB0D7953F.jpeg

I read it a very long time ago when I was in high school. My mom used to drop me off at school very early in the morning before classes started, and I would spend the mornings in the school library. Everyday I would pick out a book to read, and that’s how I found this one.

The reason I chose this book for this entry was because it introduced me to a very fun activity that I was not aware even existed. Most people don’t. It introduced me to the world of Geocaching! If you do not know what geocaching is, I really recommend it if you have spare time and want to have fun. It’s basically a worldwide treasure hunt. Like an Easter hunt, but without the eggs….or Easter. There are geocaches (secret containers) everywhere for you to find. People like you or me have hidden them all around the world. Using coordinates, you’re supposed to set out to find them. Sometimes the caches just have a log for you to sign, and other times, there’s small items to trade (you pick something and leave something behind for the next person). Sometimes it’s not even a container at all, but a special location. There’s also types of puzzle or riddle caches as well, which require some additional thinking and deciphering.

The thrill is mainly just finding them! I use their app and my phone, and it takes you close to where it’s hidden. Once you are close, it’s up to you to find the treasure! Odds are that you probably have at least one close to your home.

I really loved that this book piqued my interest and encouraged me to just go out there and experience something new and fun! Fish 🐟

I want to talk about my favorite book! Its the Wizard of Oz! I know its veeeeeeery cliché but like it means alot to me! I remember my mother and me would read it every night after school. I think the only reason I know about it was because my parents were trying to find something good for me to read. It was so much fun and it helped me learn lots of new vocabulary! It was the first book that got me interested in reading. I loved the story and the characters and it made me so excited to open a book! I remember having an actual book but also one of those digital book versions! It was my first and only digital book I own! It is the sole reason that I started reading books and giving them a chance! I have really great memories with it and have read it countless times!

Fishies are super cute and whenever I go to the doctor I get excited because she has a fishtank inside the waiting room!

My favorite song is Mirai no Bokura wa ****teru yo from Love Live Sunshine!

While there are other songs that I love more than this in terms of the song by itself, the reason I consider this one my favorite is for Sentimental reasons.

Back in 2017, I went to Japan with some of my closest friends to go to a Love Live Concert (Anime live concert with the Voice Actors singing songs from the show and whatnot) It was the first time I went on such a large trip overseas without family. After the concert was over we toured around Japan and on the last day, we stayed at an airBNB which looked like a very traditional Japanese house to watch the debut of second season of Love Live Sunshine, the anime that brought us all together. As the opening of the show was played for the first time in the world, I was able to look around at all my friends gathered in one place, watching something that was near and dear to all of our hearts live together. The songs message captured how I felt about our trip, surrounded by friends, sharing a dream and coming together to see it through to the end. Since then, this song has been my favorite overall due to the memories attached to it.

P.S. Did you know that Love Live Sunshine takes place next to the Ocean? Do you know what's in Oceans? Fish.

Thanks for the awesome opportunity fish friend!
My all time favorite movie is the 1991 re-imagining of Peter Pan, Steven Spielberg's Hook.

If there is one thing we can all agree on, it's that growing up is hard as hell. As soon as people begin to view you as an adult, you're expected to drop everything that made childhood so magical. Playing with toys, watching cartoons, and pillow fort sleepovers all to be thrown out the window in favor of taxes, politics, and a stable 9-5 job. In spite of this environment in which I was raised, I still cling to those childish activities. That is what makes Hook ring so true for me. People can become so absorbed with playing the role they've been assigned, that they lose site of what makes life meaningful in the first place, what makes life worth the pain it puts you though. The children who never grew up are considered the "lost boys", but the alternative is to enter the mundanity of adult life. What's the point of hustling hard to accomplish milestones that you never really cared about while telling your inner child to sit in the corner. You bottle them up and tell them that they're worthless, that what they care about is inconsequential. Hook teaches us to embrace our child self, that you're not two separate entities fighting for dominance, you're one person who is struggling to express their true feelings and desires because it would disrupt the status quo. Children viewing the film are presented with the message that their parents are being pulled away from them by a difference of ideals, while adults see a story of a man grieving the loss of his childhood innocence. While your perspective is essentially guaranteed to change as you reach adulthood, it serves you well to remember how the world looked when you were small, and let yourself enjoy the little things that make you happy.

thanks for the giveaway! super generous of you ^^
my favorite song (at the moment, lol) is The Villain I Appear to Be by Connor Spiotto.

i remember seeing an animation for the song, which really inspired me to do digital art and and try animating (which i suck at lol). it was made about 4 years ago, but it still comes up in my recommended section from time to time. im pretty sure the animator was hired at disney and works there now, which is great because she definitely deserves it. i’m really glad my sister showed it to me because otherwise i would have missed out, haha.

animation link for anyone who wants it
also, off topic but fish.

Hehe thank you for this, fish fish! You're gonna regret asking me this because I will make a whole-ass essay even if no one asks, but unfortunately you did /jk

I don't have an all-time favorite of those, really, but I'd like to say that one of my current favorite songs is Infinitely Gray by 25ji, Nightcord de.! I first heard it about a week ago while binge-listening to the band's songs and thought it was a really catchy one. I also learned that the center of this song was Ena Shinonome, my favorite character in the game! It talks about her struggles as an artist and how she feels demotivated that her art isn't getting as much traction as she'd like (at least from my understanding), hence all the color references in the song. I really felt the song as an artist, not just from the lyrics but from the singing too, I think the voice actors did wonderfully with portraying the emotions of the song. I get chills every time I hear the last chorus because they are just screaming frustration. Also, did I mention I really loved Ena?

Their single cover is also really pretty, like look at them!! I LOVE the aesthetics, the palette, the flower and painting theme, ahhhh.

Also please look at their MV/MMD video. It's so aesthetically pleasing I wanna cry.

OKAY LAST PICTURE look at Ena's card for the song!! Weeping.......... it's so colorful, it's so flower-y, please I just want her to have a happy ending. No more infinitely gray palettes, just colorful happy ones for her.

I'm saving up all that I can in-game to pull on this event's gacha banner once it comes out in the worldwide version of Puroseka. I also plan to tier the event; not sure how far high up I'll go since I'm not really a paying player, but I do at least want to get a badge/pin from the event! I'll be trying my best with the event despite limited resources since I just really love Ena and the song and everything else about it.

(okay thank u for coming to my ted talk & thank u for the giveaway again!!)

Little Fury Things by Dinosaur Jr is my favorite song! I could listen to it 20 times over and not get bored, probably because it's so fuzzy and my brain inexplicably responds super positively to fuzz in music. I consider Little Fury Things to be the quintessential Dinosaur Jr song, and it's the first song I'd recommend to someone who is trying to get into the band.

The song begins with the 3 band members screaming abrasively into the void; their words almost unrecognizable as voices, instruments, and feedback blend together into a chaotic harmony of pure, beautiful fuzz.

"
Rabbit falls away from me
guess I'll crawl
rabbit always smashes me
again I'll crawl
Tried to think what's over me
it makes me crawl
Then she runs away from me
faster than I crawl

"

Sometimes "rabbit" sounds a lot like "grab it," giving the words a double edge...plus! these are strangely aggressive lyrics for a song about a rabbit...and what about the title "Little Fury Things"? Is fury perhaps an intentional misspelling of "furry", little furry things? Rabbits? Another double meaning! It's effortlessly complex.

"
I stopped to call
Tried to feel it all
Stuck my hand and pulled real hard
Got stretch in miles, not in yards
Then I read
About all those who believe
All of your lies
Sunlight brings the rage right in your eyes"

"

Other parts of the song seem to describe an encounter with an intimate partner (again, is the rabbit really a rabbit? fury or furry, which is it???), and the perspective is always from that of someone who feels low, pathetic, crawling.

And that's it. Lowly lyrics, slacker vocals, fuzz, catchy hooks, sick guitar solos, a fast, directional feeling of something building up...that's what makes a Dinosaur Jr song for me! Little Fury Things does all of these things perfectly.

I admire those pinwheels every time I see them, so thank you for offering this very generous giveaway!! You're the best fish. 💖
