Recently I've been playing New Leaf to quell my impatience for New Horizons and though I love NL, and will probably continue playing it after the game comes out, one of my big issues with this game is the forced pacing.

AC has always been a slow-ish paced relaxing game but when they force certain things to take longer ESPECIALLY in the beginning of a new town it is kind of annoying. When you get the development permit you have to wait until the next day to actually start building things, you can't get your permit the day of starting, you can't get your house on day one either; re a few examples i can think of on the top of my head. All these little things, in my opinion, create a road block during the game - I can't go at my own pace, I have to go on the games pace; I understand and don't mind certain things that do take longer in the game but these small events just to get the game going feel like they take forever.

One thing I am really hopeful for in NH is because its your own island and because its crafting paced there will be less of those roadblocks and everyone will be able to develop their town at their own pacing. I think it would overall really benefit the game and make it a little less tedious at times.

My guess is such thing will still take time in New Horizons. While annoying, it's part of the game at this point. Every single game has taken X days to build a new location. I really don't see them changing that.

I honestly doubt they'll change the pacing, although I do agree with you that it's too slow. If the crafting helps at all, I think it'll mostly be in the beginning, since it seems like you'll be able to build all the tools right away rather than having to wait for them to show up in the shop, and you can start gathering materials for more crafting, too.

It seems unlikely that we'd be able to unlock amenities and whatnot more quickly, though. I assume we'll have to have Nook organize them, and/or only be able to craft one per day.

I sometimes think it should be called "The Waiting Game". ^_^

I wish it wasn't so slow. Relaxing is great, but it can get so slow it ends up boring.

I know they want to make things take time, but we aren't playing a game because we want it to be like real life, where we wait for things.

A little faster in the unlocking of certain things would be welcomed. :)

I don't really mind how long it takes to build things, Honestly I feel that part balances out the game. It's more little things like you can't unlock stores until the town is ten days old, or how it's hard to really start getting your town set until you have all the tools. I'd more desire to work on my town and my own pace, even if that pace is a bit busier i guess?

I can see how it would be boring, but for me personally, slower pacing keeps me excited and engaged to play. If I tore through the game in a week I'd lose interest much quicker.

I personally love carrying out a task on a given day and then seeing the affect of that the next day; you look forward to it. With an Animal Crossing game, most people are in it for the long haul so it being slow-paced won't be an issue.

It will to those of us who don't have all the time in the world to wait.

I find completing the museum a long haul type of reward, I really enjoy doing it or getting badges or unlocking character lore. But when it comes to building the town, I just find it makes the game a bit frustrating. I don't mind the amount of days it takes for the building to be made, but I just want to work away on my town. I personally love working on my town, and I'm really excited for NH because now you can place furniture outside and make your town look even better.
