Do you guys have any tricks/tips for laying down path QR?s?
I?m noticing that when you lay down path QR?s, especially intricate ones with specific designs for corners, turns, stairs etc, they tend to also take up all the designs in your 10 QR spots available. However, I was trying to hang up cool painting QR?s in my house as well as the town paths, and I find myself having to get rid of the painting QR?s to make more room for the paths designs.
Do you usually just have to create more characters in your town for the QR space, and grind through placing the paths down? Or do you guys have any tips/ tricks you can share? I am reluctant to have to create a third character in my town and find the space for their house.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this will work for you, but I just use only one QR space for my paths so it's just really simple. But I think making another character might be a good idea for making more space for all those paths.

I have a second character who just lives in a tent to hold qr paths. But my paths are very simple and don’t have corners so he can hold them all. The downside of this is that if I accidentally kick up a path I have to load my second character to fix it. :/

You'll have to create more characters if you want more pattern options or complex designs (eg: left, top left, right, bottom right, ect.)

You can save some designs with Mable if you change your mind about it later and want to switch from floor patterns taking priority to clothing qr or patterns for your home.

Keep in mind that if you create more than 3 characters, you won't be able to use the plot reset trick (for those who care about this).

You'll have to choose between a basic floor pattern and more options for other sorts of qr or complex patterns that are focused entirely on making your town exterior look awesome.

I'm still trying to make up my mind on this, too.

If you want more complicated ornate/decorative paths then yes, you will probably have to create another resident to hold patterns. However, I do think that you can have a very simple tile set on one character and still make it work. I'll show some tips with an example of my town. My mayor currently holds all path designs (except for one, which is a storm drain) with room to spare (7 path slots used in total) I like putting them on my mayor because I play her the most and I often have to kick away paths because of trades or just on accident.

While a lot of pre-made QR paths have intricate corners and borders, forcing you to make alt characters just to hold them all, you can still get away with the bare minimum (left, right, top, and bottom "borders" only) and make it look nice! I made these paths myself because I like to change the colours based on the seasons but I'm sure you can find simple paths online as well. My main path is a very simple "stepping stone" but I have a variant where there's grass on the borders just to spruce up certain areas. Then I have two "accent" tiles (flower patch and decorative stone) just so everything isn't so monotonous.

Example of tiles with grass on the side. As you can see the corners aren't perfect but I don't really mind and I think the other flowers/tiles distract from it not being so perfect.

The regular stepping stone without the grass border can be used in more natural settings like a real stepping stone. Or it can be used to widen the paths with borders on the side.

Here's an example of my decorative stepping stone being used with the regular stepping stone to make this fountain area more interesting. But really it's just me placing two different stones randomly in a circle XD

Here's an example of my path and my flowerbed QR that is my main "accent" that I usually place in front of houses as a general recurring theme to tie my residential area together. Another example of an accent are water way QRs, fake grass patches, etc.

So while huge tile sets on multiple characters can make your town look super impressive that's for sure, you can still make a nice little pathway tile set on one character and have some room for your home design patterns/clothes etc. In fact, I only actively use my pro-design slot and that green pillow design for my room, the other flag design can be changed as an extra space as well. So loads of room to spare! My DA is 4F00-0148-7A73 if you wanna check out what I mean in person! (sorry for the shameless plug hehe) Hope that helped a little!!!

I do have a lot of designs saved with them already.. it?s just so hard for me to pick which ones to have as my 10 default ones! I really like the way the paths with the specific corners and outlines, look, though, and it?s just making me sad that I have to delete my cool horror paintings in my house to sacrifice for the path XD and if I do end up opting for a new character so I can have the painting, I?ll have to re-lay all the specific spots with the new character. I do think it looks so cool, though. Ah well.. looks like my best option is creating a third character!

No I?m glad you posted all that! I totally like the way you planned yours out, they way you worked with that simpler pattern with only the four different edges and a center pattern , it looks really nice! I?ll def visit your dream address :) plus integrating that patterned one still makes it look detailed! I bet it saves a lot of space to only need those few tiles. I think using flower beds on the corners helps a lot with the space instead of having to use patterns for all four different corners.
The reason why I?m having such a hard time is because I haven?t found a pattern I like as much as the one I?m using currently. It doesn?t have a good edge that looks cohesive when I use the center pattern, though, so I feel it?s best to go with the separate edge patterns - I?ve got a gothic town look going and it?s like a mossy overgrown old stone path. If I could find one like yours with fewer patterns and have a flower bed edge that matches it.. that is only one pattern looks good with my town style, i would totally go for it! I think I?ll visit your town and wait on it for a bit to see if I get any good ideas.. :) I am still considering starting a third character, but it?s cool to see what you managed to do with less patterns and still make it look very detailed and spacious! :D

For my second town, which will also be sort of gothic, I'm going to have to create a second character to store the path patterns. I want to use a lot of wallpaper QR codes I found online in my mayor's house (there just aren't enough purple wall options in game) plus she'll have a QR outfit.

But before I found the perfect path which happens to have edges and all that, I looked at a lot of single stone tiles. There are a few detailed ones that I think look dark and gothic if you really don't want to create another character. And like dizzy bone suggested, you might be able to find a couple that work together to make it more interesting.

As an examples, this is one of my favorites that I downloaded, but I just kept googling things like "gothic stone path" and similar wording to find some good ones.

I know your post is quite old but I was wondering if you still have the qr codes for the stone pathways since DA shut down? I really like the pattern. TY
