Pathing

Oof the paths are so tricky in this game. At the moment I have brick paths laid out with these cute little Christmas light paths laid on top and it looks so cute and so festive but I hate the sound lol. I love the little tap tap taps that the brick path gives! I'm super bummed custom paths don't give the fun tippy tap sound of whatever main path they're laid on top of.
I'm trying to decorate neutral because I haven't been happy with my island pathing yet, and that ties everything together imo. Hopefully next year I'll be happy enough to decorate :(

I want to start using the default paths because I’m afraid one morning I’m going to wake up and all the custom paths that took hours to lay down will be gone. I just need to figure out how to make it work with my islands aesthetic tho. I know what I want it to look like in my mind and the default paths are just not it. :(
I never thought of this, thats even scarier to think of honestly. I've already put hours into the pathing I've attempted and disliked. I couldnt imagine enjoying how it looks and it all being gone

Stone/the arched pathing with other paths! I looove the terracotta but it doesn't fit with those very well and I love the grey on them

Originally my island was mostly brick with wooden accents. When I switched to the arched stone I initially hated it. I didn't like the cool grey stone next to the much warmer wooden path. Finding ways to bring the warmth to the arched path helped. I used a ton of bronze customized manhole covers everywhere and changed all of my iron garden chairs and tables from black to brown. I continued to find little things to tweak and I was much happier with the result when I was done. Maybe you can find some diys or furniture pieces to help bring everything together? I haven't played around with the terracotta path that much, but it seems like adding things with the white customization or furniture pieces like the white floating biotope planter or the pink anthurium plant to the nearby stone-pathed areas could help?

You can also separate your town into sections with slightly different themes. I have the more developed town-like center of my island paved in arched stone and wood, but the edges and parts of the mountainy area in the back (which have a more rural vibe) have the default dirt roads. I think the terracotta and hedge fence would look cute if you wanted to do something like a garden or park somewhere.
