Just saw some youtube videos saying that Patreon is banning anime style artwork.

Here is one. I'm aware this channels gets some negative attention, but it has the info.

Does it depend on if the drawing is sexual or not? I don't understand the people who draw "legal" lolis as sexual because obviously they'll look exactly like children. Some people enjoy the look of a child but want it to be considered legal so that they can say that they're not into children  Idk maybe I'm being ignorant

On the topic of banning anime style of bigger heads and smaller bodies it doesn't make much sense.

Someone mention losing art of a more ample subject, doesn't seem like it. As well as fully clothed. Seems like it would affect bishies as well. There is another video by a young lady that goes into more detail. Words she uses prevent me from sharing that one here.

they're not banning "anime art style", they're banning sexualization of minors

Yes but they're also banning normal characters in the process. Sometimes it can be hard to tell the age of a character in anime so they're banning whatever looks young. The video showed several cases of people who made adult characters getting their stuff banned.

The problem is that the style of anime is typically bigger head and smaller body frame. Not only that but this is just an addition to the constant political attacks to get anime censored to Oblivion.

i can see what you mean here but in the comment section you can tell what kind of audience this is for. the person who made this video hearted a comment which defends people who enjoy looking at very intentional depictions of underage anime girls by saying that it's just art, so he threw that argument out the window.

you can see people blaming left wingers and saying that it's intolerant and racist to tackle child pornography when this topic shouldn't divide people politically. even if nothing depicted is real you really have to lack the emotional intelligence and empathy to valiantly defend someone's "right" to enjoy it (not meaning you but in general)
if their lewd art has these exaggerated child-like aspects then that's entirely their fault if they're being affected by this, there's no way that isn't intentional. they're not stupid, they know what it is and what their audience is.

on another note the character near the header of the article at the 5:30 minute mark looks like lu from elsword who has the body of a child and acts like one. i have no idea if the full image is supposed to be sexual but i thought it was worth pointing out.

Could we please not make this political. Both wings seem to want many things censored currently. People on the other side are also making videos about this. I just can't post them due to language.

but i'm talking about the comments section on this video that you shared and also said that it should not be political.

I can see why they'd ban some anime artwork. Over sexualization can be just plain ridiculous- even pornographic. That has ever right to be banned, especially since the site is used by a wide demographic. I mean, as I stated a while ago in Unpopular Opinions, anime can border child porn in a second sometimes.

*Cough, cough- Criminal Girls- cough*

That stuff is sick. Regular anime artwork, though? Nope. They should be careful not to censor harmless artists in the process of their cleanout!

I don't think it matters who made the video at all. Real artists that are innocent are being affected by this and it's wrong

They have had problems with comment section spam for a while. A variety of spam tactics used, including what you're pointing out, agreeing but taking things too far. That is a psychological manipulation tactic. I don't think they should be held responsible for other's comments. Plus they feel obligated to mention that they lean more left, if you care so much.

Plus Patreon in overstepping and looking at off-site things.

i won't deny that there are probably some innocent people being affected by this. hopefully things will stabilise a bit and they'll crack down on more people who deserve it.
it does matter in terms of this guy who completely shuts down his own argument by agreeing with someone defending lolicons, which means he wants that kind of stuff to be okay as well.

i was not assuming anything about op's or any commenter's political stance, i was just discussing on what the comment section is trying to push and being confused as to why. like i have stated, i don't think agreeing with what patreon is doing is a "left-wing" thing, and disagreeing doesn't automatically make someone on the right.

There are trolls. The comment section is off topic.

i wouldn't say that it's off topic because it's directly connected to the video that you linked for us to discuss. if you believe that talking about the potential trolls in the comment section isn't necessary then that's fine, i still think that the op hearting that comment paints him and the video in an entirely different picture though because it's not advocating for innocent people.

honestly, I don’t really understand the point of buying art on patreon to begin with. Most of it seems catered to gross interests
