Bit of a tech question/discussion!

For those of you who are into PC games, what kind of machine are you currently using for your favourite games?

reason why I'm curious, if you have any advice;
I haven't touched PC games in years because the only computer I currently own is a Chromebook. I love the little thing but I might bite the bullet and buy a desktop for the sake of have a Windows PC to be able to do other things on, like update my damn iPod and play games.

I'm curious as to if I can make do with a cheaper system as I don't imagine I'll be getting into any FPS graphic-intense kind of stuff. Mostly crap like Terraria and Stardew Valley, likely the only more intensive thing I'd be playing is Skyrim (likely not modded), if it's at all possible. I was considering building my own (more for a project than anything) but with the cost of parts in Canada I doubt I'd save any money for my trouble. I was looking at something like this (not exactly this as the reviews are a bit eh and Acer seems hit or miss with me, but similar). But with a dedicated graphics card. Wondering if I'm better off going with a cheaper AMD processor and good graphics card.

Anyways, just looking for some ideas. :blush:

If anybody wants to throw some good Steam game ideas at me I would love to check them out as well!

If you're going for a desktop, I'd personally recommend building it! It's very fun and the most exciting thing about building a PC. You create it how you want made just for you.

If you want my advice on this, you should buy an intel computer or build an Intel computer with AT least a processor that is equivalent to an i5 6600k, i5 4690k, i5 3570k. These are the best processors you can get for gaming as you don't get better performance on an i7 FOR GAMING. These processors will also last you years. Believe it or not, but the i53570k which came out like 2012, is still used as a recommended processor for gaming.

Based on the games you listed, you should be able to run them all on in Intel Graphics. So, you won't need a graphic card any time soon. Just save up to buy a good one eventually. Buy the PC first, enjoy your 2D indies and save up for a graphic card. You could get months worth of game time on Terraria, Stardew Valley and Skyrim.

The computer you link is pretty good! It has a decent i5 processor, but the problem is *I THINK* you'd have to replace the power supply to add a good medium level entry graphic card. Unless you're willing to use a low level entry graphic card like the Nivida 950 or equivalent, you're better off building a PC.

There my advice for it.

Thanks for the info! I decided to say screw it and buy the PC I linked and wait to upgrade as you said, only because I think it will leaps and bounds ahead of the last desktops I've used, and for the price I'm willing to give it a shot. Worst case, I end up upgrading it later.

Going to pick it up today! :lemon:
