Im sorry this has happened, people really need to start asking for proof. When I sell villagers I take a picture of the character in boxes with the persons name written on a piece of paper. Its not hard to do and it gives the buyer huge piece of mind. Its getting all too common we just need to wisen up.

discord is so disgusting with the scams, like how can people be so shallow and heartless? A lot of them don’t realize that some of us put our lives into this game. People who live like that, scamming people out of fictional currency, really, REALLY need to find a new hobby.

This one guy was asking for inappropriate photos for Raymond which was disgusting and I talked to the moderators responsible for bans and they said fill out an application and I’ll be reached out soon

also i’d just like to say, OP is seemingly being VERY kind to a user who got scammed. Just because they want to help does not mean that they’re obligated to give up what is rightfully theirs, in this case, the raymond in their town. Even if OP IS lying, they supposedly already have raymond so what’s the harm. Who cares.

Ah some kind people have already brought this to my attention, unfortunately (or fortunately idk) she got marshal early on so the campsite trick wont work. But thank you for the thought and telling me regardless!
Yeah I wish I was far more cautious with the second scammer, idk I just really wanted her to have Raymond so I threw all logic and reason out the window, at least until I saw him walking around >>
Yeah I'm starting to be more wary of that in future myself, before this I've never had problems buying or selling villagers there so this is definitely a wake up call for myself to be wary
God I know right? A part I didnt add in the post is that the first scammer had the gall to start harassing her afterwards, making multiple discs and even pretending to be her and scamming people so they would leave bad reviews on her nookazon page. Like dude really? It's bad enough that you stole from her but now you are trying to ruin her rep too? Luckily the mods had the proof she wasnt to blame and cleared the bad reviews but still...

I don’t see why they don’t just shut down the whole villager trade channel as a whole like most people are lying especially about the bid price so they can make more and more nmt/ign and the moderators get like a million complains a day from people being scammed and people being disgusting :/

It might be taboo but the stress of buying Raymond was too much for me and I bought him on Ebay... If you and your friend can chip in 5 USD each, you can buy a Raymond, hassle free. He was like 10 bucks LOL nothing like those crazy 1000USD prices you see going around social media. It's an opportunity cost thing for me and paying less than an hour of minimum wage is worth it over dealing with scammers and harvesting hours of NMT. I'm sorry that happened to you though, best of luck finding a new one <3
