I have read quite a few posts about pricing of beetles, fish, furniture, gem stones etc. There are many inaccurate posts regarding pricing

First and foremost, the guide book is absolutely necessary for game play. You are missing out on 90% of the game if you do not have this book.

The guide book clearly states 2 things.

1. Value of item
2. Re-tail purchases that item for 1/4 of the value price.

Now the 1/4 percent value is increased slightly with the "Bell Bloom" ordinance.

Examples: guide book pricing
Gold Nuggest value is 16,000/ Re-Tail will give you 4000
Rainbow Stag value 40,000/ Re--Tail will give you 10,000
Hammerhead Shark 32,000/ Re-Tail gives 8000
Agrias Butterfly 12,000 / Re-Tail gives 3000

Every single item in the guide book has a value.
I have found one mistake:

Tiger Beetle-- guide book list value as 32,000
I should have received 8,000
I believe the price I received from Re-tail was either 1,300 or 1,800
I have been lucky enough to catch this beetle on 2 different visits.

I am posting this because I do not want any players without the guide to be confused on why they are not receiving previously posted pricing.

Wait so... Retail don't pay full price for items sold there?

Where else should I be selling my items to get the full value?

It's the same as previous games, but a great reminder nonetheless so thank you. For example in wild world, Tom Nook would buy back an item you had bought from him at value price for 1/4 of said value price.
Whilst I do think that the guide book should list the sell price for bugs/fish, they are keeping it consistent and listing the value you would pay if buying purely due to the volume of clothes, wallpapers, furniture items etc and bugs and fish are in the minority here so we lose out on having a quickly accessible selling value. Although the high value items still pay more than the low value ones so it's alright I guess even if you dont sit and calculate it.

You can get more than the 1/4 price if you put them up on the tables in re-tail, but they take longer to sell.

What's the point of showing the "full price" if no one buys them for that price? The book might as well have made the prices more accurate as to what we can get for the items. This book doesn't really seem that necessary...

I had the guide book for Wild World and I remember it having a lot of cool stuff in it. I should get the New Leaf one.

Wish has it right. Animal Crossing fans are quite detailed & perceptive- if you search the forums there are a few thorough posts that illustrate errors in the guide.

Okay, that's besides my point- for the completists, the guide is helpful (like the wiki) but no, don't delude new AC players & AC vets that we're only going to discover 10% of the game on our OWN. Haha, give us some credit- that margin isn't even close.

^ That probably applies to people who have never played AC before

I ordered the guide yesterday. I'm new to the world of AC, plus I have money to burn ;) so I'm sure it'll come in handy.
