I played a double battle earlier with a few different people.
My Pokémon being mid level 50s, theirs being level 70s and above.
Both our teams were scaled down to level 50 as per the battle rules.
I've maxed out my pokemons stats with health drinks , yet for some reason the opponent's Pokémon, seemed to deal more damage to me than I could to them...and I was using good moves.
For example, my level 50 infernape flame wheel barely did half damage to their torterra (which pre-battle was around level 80), yet when the level 50 torterra used earthquake it was a one hit knockout on both my infernape and dusclops.
My dusclops even had an arrow saying the defence was higher than average, and was in the hundreds.
Sooooo.....eg... If a level 100 Pokémon enters a battle with rules to be made level 50, does it keep its existing level 100 attack, defence stats etc?
I can only assume this is the reason, I'd consider my Pokémon team pretty powerful despite being young 50s, yet also reduced level to 50
