It's only 10 bucks so I have been thinking about buying it! I have been wanting to play the original games for a while but I have no clue on how to get a gameboy in good condition (if you do have any tips for that please tell). Has anyone on here bought the 3ds version? Is it worth downloading? Tell me your thoughts!

Honestly you should get Pokemon Crystal instead, miles better than Gold or Silver.

So I'd say yes it's worth to get it

Seconding the suggestion to get the Crystal version. It's the more complete version of Gold and Silver. The storyline is far more developed, the sprites are slightly animated which is nice, and - if it matters to you - you can play as a girl character (hence why Crystal is my all-time favorite Pokemon game, it was the first to let me play as a girl).

I'll third the suggestion for Crystal since it was just recently released on VC and is a slightly enhanced version of G/S but I would still recommend Gold or Silver too just cuz Silver was my very first pkmn game so I have kind of an extreme bias lol
anyway I have downloaded Silver and Crystal and would def say they are worth it to have on 3DS! for someone who's never played the old games before though there's probably gonna be some stuff to get used to (limited amount of items you can carry, clunky PC system, stuff like that but overall the games are solid)

yeah, get crystal as of now, kinda regret i didn't honestly..plus you can get a celebi in crystal now

10 dollars is still quite a lot for a GameBoy game tbh. That would mean 4 GB games have the value of a full 3DS game... And believe me you'll get a lot more out of one full game compared to 4 GB games.

Regardless of it being overpriced Nintendo pretty much has all of our wallets inslaved so no matter the price just being fans we will pay it anyways. (At least I know I do... help me )

u wanna talk about overpriced I think Yellow version is like 15$ but that's CAD and our prices always suck nowadays ;/ The ten bucks for a GBC game is lame too but honestly you're not gonna get anything better for that price in my opinion

yeah swedish prices are pretty insane too. but gen 2 is a great gen so kinda worth it

The first Pok?mon game I played proper was Red on my 3DS (the boyfriend got Blue) so I definitely want to pick it up and play through Gold/Silver soon!

I would say it depends, really. Some people are going Gold/Silver because the event from Pokebank for Celebi code only procs with purchase of Gold/Silver. People going Crystal is because it has a slightly extended story with the trio legendary (Just one additional character, really. And catching Suicune earlier too), you get to catch both, Lugia and Ho-oh, I think you can still get Celebi in it, even without the pokebank code (Since you can just transfer the one in Crystal to have Celebi), and unique animations that gold/silver doesn't have (Only at the start of battle though).
