Pokémon Pokémon presents discussion thread

to be honest, i was never interested in pokemon snap and i could not be less interested in the DP remakes, it looked pretty basic and i don't like the style but it's cool because now i can save my money and get pokemon legends!
that one looks so cool, i love how u can just roll around lol, plus arceus is one of my favourite pokemon 💖💫

Tbh, I would've liked the DP remakes more if they had the same style as that Legends game. I'm not sure if I should hate or like that chibi-ish style, it worked for the DS back then perfectly, but for the Switch? Meh, not sure. Otherwise, the Legends game looks neat.

I just love how the live stream suddenly ended before the presentation was over, lol.

Ehhhh, I'm not really excited for any of the upcoming games so far. Snap maybe, just for nostalgia's sake, but I'm scared both DP and Legends will have Go-like mechanics, and I hate the style of the DP remake - it reminds me of Fisher-Price's Little People toys.

Pokémon Snap looking gorgeous and better than every other announcement in the direct (as usual.) Not a fan of the art style for the Gen 4 remakes, but I guess the people got what they wanted. 😅 Pokémon Legends looks decent. I’m not a fan of the three starters they chose, but Rowlet and Cyndaquil seem to be popular amongst others.

I was SO hyped for a Sinnoh remake because we've been asking for it for years now lol... and this feels like a punishment... like y'all wanted your remake? here it is now leave us alone.
Like... some people may like the game style but I.. I just can't. It looks so cheap for a game that fans have been asking for so long?
Pokémon X & Y looked better and had more sprite variety. Now I know that they probably wanted to keep the 2D pixel style, and it's a great hommage, but it's not really well executed.
The game feels like it has no budget whatsoever and it could've been released in the App Store in like, 2017.
I know the game isn't out yet, but we've all seen how Game Freak works, I don't have much hopes in the game being up to par with their latest installments.
However, on a more positive note, the combats really look gorgeous and the combat decors are beautiful!
I'm disappointed truly, and I'm more excited for Pokémon Snap which looks AMAZING.
That Pokémon Legends game kinda looks cool too, but I'm going to need more infos because this looks like a very big game! I'm a bit hyped for it.

While I absolutely LOVE Gen IV, the artwork of the remake will take some getting used to for me. It feels like a harvest moon-like style, something that I didn't feel fit well as a Pokemon game. The storyline seems somewhat the same as well, which a little bummer for me as I wanted the same region with a different storyline, not the same old story again. I don't wanna be too disappointed yet though and still give the remakes a chance because I've waited for it for so long.

On the other hand, Pokemon Legends looks very promising, and somehow I feel this is more of the remake that I wanted but a travel back in time instead of forward like in most remakes. I'm very much looking forward to that. Maybe in my head I'll start repeating to myself that Pokemon Legends is the legitimate "remake" of DPPT 😅

(In retrospect, I don't think it's common to see two games based off of a single region, and we got that with Sinnoh so I'm thinking this remaster plus open world release is fine. Maybe the remaster just copying the base game was interntional because they knew they were releasing another Sinnoh-centered game. I'm happy either way that Sinnoh is being represented.)

Here are my thoughts on the diamond and Pearl remakes. it bothers me how they used a graphical style from pokémon let's go Pikachu and Eeeve because I thought it was going to look just like how sword and shield looks like. I mean I'm glad that it's happening but I just wish it would have used a graphical style like sword and shield but I'm still going to get it.

As for Pokemon Legends Arceus it looks really great and it has a lot of potential to be really good the battle mechanics look pretty different and it looks more open world. It will be very interesting to see what they do in this game that will change what generation 9 will be like in the future. But yeah I'm excited for this game also

Overall this Pokemon Direct pretty good and I didn't expect much but it blew my mind when I saw Pokemon Legends Arceus but still bother me how and diamond and pearl they were using let's go grab it instead of sword and shield graphics but oh well. I will give this a 8 out of 10

I personally LOVE the chibi style and graphics for Briliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. I’m definitely much more interested in this game than I was with Sword and Shield.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus looks amazing and promising too.

I'm happy about the remakes, and that they're staying true to the original, however the style looks... Weird, but it is what it is.

As for Legends I like the concept, but at least right now it looks really basic, and the graphics are even worse than the awful wild area in sword, and shield, and even while looking like a PS1 game the gameplay they showed looked like a powerpoint slideshow, I'm not getting my hopes up for it.

The chibi artstyle shocked me but hopefully it isn't a carbon copy of the original. I am really hoping they include the Fairy type and give us a good gimmick for Dialga and Palkia (plz no Gmax!!!)
Probably no Battle Frontier but I hope we get the Platinum dex and not the OG DP dex... *organises all Fire types in HOME*

PLA
Pokemon Legends Arceus is my dream come true! It feels a lot like BoTW. I will probably spend more time playing this than the Sinnoh remake. I am so happy God Arceus gets his own game.

Who are y’all gonna pick? Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott?

Rowlet all the way!

I totally agree with the comments about the chibi style! When it first popped up I was like what is this.. it reminded me a little of Maplestory 2. Also the environmental graphics seemed quite flat compared to the characters?
saying that, it’s inbetween the traditional game and modern styles and I’ll still purchase it anyways because I loved the original game :)

Who are y’all gonna pick? Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott?
Tough choice but maybe Oshawott! Idk I really loved Dewott 😭

Also I'm officially treating PLA as a pre-make (I mean, pokemon twitter said it first) so I can say I'm going to absolutely buy both remake and pre-make, the first for nostalgia & the latter for the open world experience 💕

I may pick up the open world game, not sure yet, splatoon is out next year, so not sure yet

didnt know that an announcement like this happened until i saw the thread lol. i love sinnoh, its my favourite region overall and i replay platinum again once every couple of years or so. gen 4 was just so good. i like the chibi style they are going for but i hope that the graphics/models get a little refining, the colours are really flat which is a little off-putting for me. i adore what link's awakening did and it kinda seems like a budget version of that style. im hoping theyve learned from their mistakes from sword and shield (i did enjoy aspects of it quite a lot but the main problem is that it lacked polish in so many areas) but i dont have much faith in them from that.

im more excited for pokemon legends, it looks very promising but the frame rate is......bad, its very noticeably bad. thats not uncommon for nintendo switch games but i hope that gets some refining too.
Who are y’all gonna pick? Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott?

definitely going for cyndaquil if they "fix" typhlosion's model
for context:

they removed his cool flames in gen 6 and have kept it that way ever since ;__;
if not then im going for rowlet probably, my favourite alolan starter

I am sooooooooo excited for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Definitely going to get Brilliant Diamond and play through it regardless of the art style since generation four was my entrance into the series. I also really like the looks of Pokemon Legends Arceus, and will be getting that as well. I couldn’t care less about the New Pokemon Snap game though. It’s not really my type of game. 😅

Who are y’all gonna pick? Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott?

Rowlet for days! Cyndaquil is great and all, but Rowlet clearly has these two beat imo. Never cared for Oshawott.

I'm a bit apprehensive of the new games, tbh. I mean...Diamond and Pearl are being developed by ILCA inc, not Nintendo. And while they look generally nice, there is a certain "mobile games" feel to the graphics that I'm not a huge fan of. Then again...I can look past graphics if a game is fun. Afterall, I do play (and enjoy) Nexomon, which has a very mobile appearance.

As for Arceus...it just looks empty. I want to give it a chance, but I don't think they should have shown this one yet. Either it's so early in production that they haven't added final touches...or it's just going to be a very stark game. Very reminiscent of the open world of Sword Shield...but, honestly, somehow emptier. Just a very void and muddy look with very little going on...
