Pokémon Pokemon Sun and Moon General Discussion

I wonder why the older games didn't do that sometimes.

Probably because the older games had more "edge" and "challenge", and made you "actually need to figure things out", but Nintendo deemed that "too hard and confusing" for the newer generation for kids.

That's what the guy at the gamestop told me when I preordered. I looked it up and appearently there was a dual pack with the code inside? Noth game were given to m seperately :/

Oh, I didn't pre-order them, I just kinda waltzed in and took some stuff off of the shelves and handed them my money. I didn't get any fancy codes or anything.

eh well I guess I'll try speaking to them tommorrow. It's not a huge thing or anything but if I spent money on BOTH games I'd like all the bonuses that comes with it

I'm getting my butt handed to me. This has never happened before. NPCs have always been so weak, I'm actually enjoying myself less and less. Now that they're actually a challenge for me, they're too challenging. I've lost against the same dude 4 times now, and I can't progress in the story without beating him...

I guess I'll have to go level grind. I hate leveling anything, so much. So many of the games I play require leveling, and I hate it :s

I had Wishiwashi in my team up until it got OHKO'd by a Tackle. Something that weak is not good for my party. :/

Its been an hour and I still haven't found a single Mareanie! I have to get it to have the ability, Merciless. This is going to be tedious, I can tell.

Ok, should I have my second Pokemon be Alolan Grimer or Munchlax??? I can't decide~

There are lots of little details like this that have been modified. The older games were arguably harder because you really had to manage items, HP and status conditions. Now you can heal status conditions after battle even without items, TMs are permanent, and heck you don't even need a pokemon for HM slaving or even Fly anymore.

Sometimes you just need to switch party members. If you are constantly losing then there is something wrong. What moves are particularly damaging to your team? If you can narrow it down, which of your party is best suited to taking on that opponent? If you are underlevelled to begin with then that doesn't help. Items are also quite OP in these games, so if you can buy potions you can keep even lower level teams alive. Revives just turn on easy mode if you have the money to back them (and can actually buy them).

I'm fighting the dude outside the observatory, he has 3 steel types. I really don't know who to use to take this guy out. The pokemon on my team that can actually survive more than 1 round against his pokemon, don't have any moves to heavily damage these foes. By the time I get any real damage on his team, my most resistant pokemon have fainted, because I save my only potions for the pokemon on my team that do any real damage. And the only pokemon I have that do any real damage will faint in 1-2 hits. Revives are way too pricey. I can only afford like 2 more, and have very few potions, so I wanna spend my money on those, but either way I'm in a bind, and I'm probably gonna have to go train or grind and I really detest that.

The pokemon in the general area are also weaker than the ones on my team right now, so catching pokemon to combat this guy with would actually be a waste a time, possibly.

I'm gonna try saving, and then using a ton of TMs on my team before the next battle...

So far I've noticed that NPC battles are a lot harder than they used to be, I've never had my butt kicked so hard at trainer school battles before, yikes. However, money and items are practically thrown at you in this game as well so it helps.
Battling steel and poison types so early in the game has me all kinds of messed up though, I have nothing to work against them, especially since I picked Rowlet as my starter. Litten would have helped against all these Magnemites but nothing is helping against Grimer, almost all of my 'mons fainted against that trainer. Yikes.

I too am struggling, a lot, as seen in previous posts. Lol.

OH MY GOD I FINALLY BEAT HIM.

It took me like 6 tries. 2 revives, 6 Pokemon, and 3 super potions. I'm so poor rn.

It does that because the game has so much data that it needs to work, the 3DS can hardly handle it. So it does that. (That's what i'm hearing.)

I thought my 3DS was dying or something cause it's been so laggy with the game all day. I'm kind of glad it's just related to this and not my 3DS breaking. I was worried I'd lose it :(

This game's self-awareness is making me laugh too damn much. Maybe I'm just easily amused.

Early in the game, two Grunts asked me if I remembered them. I said 'yes', and they tell me, of course I remember them, because they all look the same!

A Youngster told me that he was the only one like him on the whole island.

Someone asked me where the Pokeballs that fail to catch Pokemon go.

When heading to a research lab, a woman asked me if I was going there, then said that yes, of course I was, because that's the only thing upstairs, even though there are two floors and only one of them is an option.

Someone asked me, "Who let you in here?!"

A pair of female grunts were arguing about whose shirt one was wearing, and one suggested writing their names on their shirts. The other says that there's no point, because they're all named "Grunt' anyway.

Team Skull is best team.

EDIT: A team Skull Grunt just asked me, after I'd opened a door, if I really thought peeking into people's rooms was a good thing to do.

Yesssss, I agree, this game is hilarious. No Pokemon game has actually, really made me laugh before. I felt they were always, mostly, serious. Even when they tried to be funny in the past, I didn't find it very humorous. I have a terrible sense of humor, and this game has already made me laugh many times. I'm only like, maybe halfway through. While I'm not enjoying getting my butt beat, I really love everything else.

I'm trying to train my Rockruff for the fire challenge but I can't because every wild encounter summons help that it can't handle. A single hit drops it down to half which is fine so long as there's only one to deal with.

I am beyond irritated at this point. Is there seriously no way to do this?

I'd look for other trainers nearby. The fire challenge really messed me up. It was hilarious, and so cute, but the final battle had me beat SO many times.

@Pokemanz

I've already beaten all the nearby trainers.

Oh jeez. I just backtracked from time to time, because I skipped some trainers. Maybe start the battle with Rockruff, and then when help gets called in, swap out your pokemon?I dunno, even when pokemon call on help, I never have trouble fighting them. Unless it's a Totem battle.

I am going to have to give up on finding Mareanie, he's way too rare for me to find. All I keep finding are Luvdiscs, its not cool. I'll just stick to Wishiwashi I guess.

Ok, should I have my second Pokemon be Alolan Grimer or Munchlax??? I can't decide~

I think you should keep Alolan Grimer :-D but you can choose whichever :) I had an inner debate earlier on whether to keep Muchlax.. I eventually decided not to, lol.
