Have you ever played either of these games? I preferred Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, myself. I love the concept of these games. If you’ve never heard of them, I’d recommend watching a few gameplay videos, as they are different from regular Pokémon games. I’m wondering if anyone else remembers these games and if you enjoyed them? They were both great games and I would highly recommend playing both of them if you get the chance.

I’ve played both; personally, I preferred Colosseum — i liked Wes more as a protagonist than Michael & I think XD’s ultimate plot twist was both really obvious and kind of boring, so that kind of dampened my feelings on it as a kid. still a good game, though.

Only played Colosseum. Loved it. It was a complete departure from anything else that had been Pokemon related at that time. I'm still hoping they release both of these games as a remastered collection for Switch. I never played XD because I was a kid with no money. I could always buy it now...but that would require setting up my Wii (I don't have my Gamecube anymore)...and I just don't feel like doing that (don't really have the space for it either).

I only played Colosseum, though I did follow along with an LP of XD so I'm aware of the story and whatnot of it (also once saw it for sale a year ago for like $60 iirc but just decided against picking it up). I really enjoyed Colosseum, really enjoyed the gameplay and story and liked it more than what I saw of XD (which was still a solid game!). I do wish we would get a spin-off game of a similar vein to Colosseum/XD, since I feel like that would work well on the Switch.

Legit they are one of my top favorite Pokemon games, if not my favorite spin-off games in the whole series! They consumed my childhood. I love both, but I like Colosseum a tad more. Wes was just really badass and I loved that an anti-hero was the main character of a Pokemon game. I've been hoping for a third game ever since finishing XD, but it never happened (I was so upset realizing that Battle Revolution wasn't a new shadow Pokemon game when it came out despite being developed by the same company).

Now I don't really have any hope that they will make a new game, considering Genius Sonority have been developing just mobile games in recent years. Still, I love coming back to these games again whenever the itch for stealing Pokemon arises haha.

I played Pokemon Gale of Darkness was a bit annoying to get to the point where I could transfer pokemon after cleansing them (or at least the important ones like Lugia). But I did enjoy it :).

I've only played Colosseum but I loved it, it's one of my favourite Pokemon games, so I'm not really sure why I never tried XD. I enjoyed the storyline, the gameplay and the characters, plus I loved getting Espeon and Umbreon as starter Pokemon and the inclusion of my favourite legendary trio in the game. Colosseum is also one of the few games that I always enjoy returning to and replaying, no matter how many times I've previously played it, and though I haven't actually returned to it in a while, as I don't have as much time to play everything, I still love it and the nostalgia it brings.

Gameplay-wise, I prefer Colosseum but the overall aesthetic of XD GoD speaks to me on a whole other level lol. Plus, XD had a fantastic soundtrack. The music for XD still gets me hyped, as well as shook, to this day. (Miror B.'s battle theme anyone? :p ) On a slightly unrelated note, it bums me out how they progressed with Pokémon Battle Revolution for the Wii. It was a bootleg Colosseum fail to me. /mini rant over

I loved both of these games as a kid, to me they were what I hoped Pokemon would become. We’ve kind of gotten there with Sword and Shield, but those felt like they sacrificed story for graphics. I finished both Colosseum and XD, transferred pretty much everything off those. Wouldn’t mind replaying those one day.

I've played Pokémon XD. It was okay. Just okay.

Now this gem will never leave your head. If I have to live with this blessing/curse, so do you.

I’ve played parts of both by emulation. Like most GameCube games they’re worth tons of money on the secondhand market. I spent years finding an affordable copy to no avail.

As far as Pokemon games go they’re about as different as they get. I love the Arizona inspired region and emphasis on double battles. Sure the shadow purification mechanic is clunky, but XD fixed much of the hassle.

I've played both and they were two of my favorite GameCube games! They were an interesting take on the traditional Pokemon premise which I never really cared for. I loved the different vibe of each town (Agate and Phenac were beautiful), Mt. Battle was exhilarating at the time, and who could say no to starting with Umbreon/Espeon/Eevee?

Spin-off games are where it's at.
