That fizzy, soft, carbonated drink. Dr. Pepper, Coca-Cola, Pepsi... I know that people all over the world call it different things. Even people in America can get into fights over what it's called LMAO
My boyfriend is from New York and I'm from Michigan, and we call it soda and pop respectively. Needless to say, I got made fun of a lot while over there. I asked a waiter what kind of pop they had and he didn't understand what I meant. I died a little on the inside.
So! My question is, what do YOU call the drink? Where are you from?
Where I live, we call is soda. Some people in the older age group do call it pop, but it's generally called soda. And Coke's only used when it's referring specifically to the brand.
I've obviously missed the poll (this thread is from 2017, of course), but I've always called it soda and I can't imagine calling it anything else. I've lived my whole life in the South and so I've faced a lot of ridicule for that because so many Southerners call it "Coke", but I go against that.
In New Zealand most people call it fizzy or fizzy drink but I typically call it soft drink. I will normally just say the name of the brand I am talking about though. If I want a Sprite then I'll say can I have a Sprite.
