Poppy?

So, uh, this isn't really the type of thing that I would normally think about, but google has been feeding me clickbait articles because I've been listening to old albums by an artist (Grimes) that Poppy has recently collaborated with lately.

Basically, Poppy said that Grimes "bullied" her into not releasing their collaboration on time and not giving credit to people who helped make another song of Grimes', which was originally supposed to be a Poppy collab. Grimes felt the need to cancel the song and make it with somebody else. Grimes seems to want absolutely nothing to do with Poppy now and has said that Poppy brought her into a "disgusting situation".

I started digging around a little because I know nothing about Poppy, but have seen people talk about her before (usually with extreme love or exteme hate) and what I did find was rather sick.

I'm not really into researching famous people and haven't heard any of Poppy's music or anything, so I was just wondering what other peoples' thoughts on her were? Like? Hate? No idea? What do you think she is? (a victim, an act, a piece of art?)

Personally, her whole situation has me feeling uneasy and scared for her.

Well, T-tanic S!nclair/Corey is part of the Poppy/Moriah stuff and after reading the court papers that Mars Argo served 'em. . .I don't feel comfortable with Poppy's content after knowing all the backstory info.

Plus, jmo but Poppy is a concept and not even an interesting one. Her ""performances"" are lackluster to me so if a concept is going to be copied/""inspired by"" someone at least try and do it even better or make it your own??? I don't know Moriah personally but I'm conflicted.

I use to to be more into Poppy, but she kinda just became very same-y to me. I get she likes doing the whole project with Titanic and that's their brand basically, but I feel she just does it too much to where it effects her musical quality, if that makes sense?

I don't have an idea why Grimes dropped the song, but I don't find it surprising.

It seems like Grimes was turned off about something and tried to escape with as little affiliation with her as possible. Grimes has a bad rep with collaborations, but I think that's largely due to how she likes to have full control over what she produces and is more of a solo artist, as she's said in the past (something I actually admire about her).

But it seems like she found out about the "original Poppy"... Mars Argo (who filed a lawsuit against Poppy's partner for extreme emotional and physical abuse, as well as stealing her persona). Grimes is now following Mars Argo on Twitter instead of Poppy. So I think Grimes was creeped out in some way and didn't know what she got into. I feel so badly for all 3 of these girls, but I too am biased.

There is probably a reason for that not being disclosed, I'm still not sure if she was actually abused or not since we don't know what happened in court.

Yes I know there's a reason, possibly multiple, still doesn't "quence" my curiosity regardless. Sitting in that court must've been really interesting though since alleged abuse aside, there were the copyright infrigement claims. That can be really difficult to run with in how the laws are concerning copyright.

Poppy is still a thing? I thought she was popular back in 2017. At first I found her vids creepy and entertaining but after a while I stopped watching her because she got boring.
I looked up the Grimes and poppy drama and oh boy the tea is hot!

Poppy unnerves me a lot tbh. I don't really watch her channel because everything she posts is so eerie. Similarly, I don't keep track of anything regarding her music because I'm not a fan. That doesn't mean I want her to be bullied, though.

I usually love things like that too, that's why I'm a bit confused. I'm just off-put by Titanic Sinclair and how Poppy never breaks character.

I didn't know Poppy existed until reading this thread lol. I swear I must be so out of the loop when it comes to trends or celebrities because I never know who they are until it's too late. I did know anout Grimes,I know she exists but that's about it. Anyways, it's...uh...somewhat amusing to watch her videos. It's not really my type of thing, but she sure has a talent of managing to stay in character, even in front of kids screaming in her face (see the Kids React to Poppy Video). Seems a bit sad that Grimes has been "bullying" her is that is true.

It's okay, I didn't know who Poppy was either until she and Grimes played on my Spotify. I'm out of the loop with pretty much everything, but I liked Grimes' old music back when I was in high school (she was barely known at all) I just decided to revisist and saw all of this. I don't think she was a bully per-say. She just tried to prevent their song from getting released because something about Poppy disgusted her. I guess she stupidly thought she could just do that because she's used to working by herself. She seems to be getting into a lot of messes with this lately, honestly, she should probably just not try to collaborate with people unless she's 100% she wants to.
