Possibly found out what the strange question Timmy & Tommy asks you means!

Once you've started up the game for the first time and have chosen your birthday, appearance and map, Timmy & Tommy ask you 'If you could bring ONE thing to a deserted island, what would it be?' and they present the following options:



People had no idea what it meant, and thought it had something to do with airport color or starting villager personalities or whatever, but it seems like it determines the first gift that your mum (or 'mom') gifts you in the mail. I found this out while watching a bunch of random clips and videos. One YouTube channel had chosen 'Some food', and got given an item called 'Mom's homemade cake', and someone else had chosen 'A lamp' and got given 'Mom's homemade candles'. (I would link the videos but they're long gone somewhere in my browsing history)

I chose sleeping bag and got 3 oranges as a gift from “mom”. Native fruit is cherry.

It may be that the player gets an item from a number of possibilities such as cake, candles and fruits other than the native.

And of course, other possibilities we haven’t seen yet.
It makes it more interesting than select option 1, get item A.
So two players could choose the same option and get two different things.
