"Post Quality
Be sure your forum posts actually contribute to the topic being discussed.
Posts that contain solely "Lol", "This", GIF/image replies, or other short remarks are usually better suited for chatrooms than forum discussions.
Keep your posts coherent and try your best to use good grammar.
Do not create threads and posts solely to advertise your blog, forum, Tumblr, YouTube, website, shop, contest/entry, or etc.. Instead, use your signature to share these websites, but be sure to follow the signature rules. Please realize using a thread specifically to attract attention to your signature is no better than making a thread with the link in the first place.
Do not post in an old thread if the topic is no longer relevant. This is known as bumping a thread."

So I have just been given an infraction for posting in this thread with a simple, cute and fast welcome GIF (it was hardly animated) for a new member, only to furthermore receive a warning for breaking the bolded rule.

Welcome-to-the-group-dear.gif

Not only to I find it off putting to post further on this forum, but I'm offended that my post is considered spam whereas members can post 'Welcome to the forums!' on numerous threads within a short amount of time within each other yet not get called up for spam. After all, it's the same thing, just without an image.

Some may call me out for being bitter, and the truth is, I am, but that does not stop the fact that the rule is completely unfair and should be tweaked to fit circumstances.

I mean, all you had to add was "Hope you enjoy your stay!" or something and you would've been fine. It's a bit annoying but at least it's not a ban.

But there was nothing wrong with the post in the first place: do you think that I deserved the infraction for posting a friendly, unharmful welcome image?

If you find it annoying, change things up then. Don't just post "Welcome to the forums!" maybe add something else like maybe links to guides and FAQs. It's really not that difficult to change it up so you don't match the mindless drones. :) I think the rule is fine.

No, I don't find it annoying that people post 'welcome to the forums!' on numerous threads, what I find annoying is they don't get an infraction when they've done exactly the same thing as me, just not as a media.

I believe PMing a mod would be better. Members can't do anything about it. So you should PM a mod

We've already discussed this in PM. You broke the rules. End of story.

Your feelings on the rule have been noted, you're not the first to have some disagreements with it. However, as it stands right now, that is how the rule is and as far as I can see your warning is in line with it. Creating a thread after already spoken to a moderator about it is not going to change anything regarding your situation. It's not going to gain you any brownie points with anyone, especially not us.
