Question about amiibo villagers!

I've moved Punchy in recently via amiibo card, and he's been out of boxes for 2 days
BUT, for whatever reason, when I talk to him it doesn't give the prompt to gift him an item

I'm not sure if this is related to amiibo villagers or not but it seems to be the only difference between him and my other villagers atm so i figured it may be related to that? does anyone know if maybe it just takes a couple of days for them to have that prompt open up? It's one of my favorite new features in NH so I'd love if it could work for my fav villager lol

i always thought it was random because i only have that option some of the times

It takes a few days to build friendship with your villagers and be able to gift them.

I heard they have to live in ur town for like a week or so first before that option is available, could be wrong tho lol

weird, I have that option for all my villagers unless I've already given them something

You'll get the option a few days down the line - basically when you're friendship grows stronger.
And it's also limited to one gift per day which is worth noting.
