Question about rare mushrooms

I was reading that rare mushrooms are underground rather than just sitting by the tree stumps like the others. My question is do they have the little star mark over them or do you have to just dig everyday and hope u find one? I did try to google this but couldn't find an answer. Thanks

You will see a star shape somewhere around the tree.

I dug up a truffle that was underground, thought it was going to be a fossil since it was right next to the stump. The famous and elegant mushrooms grow above ground.
