So about 3 days ago one of my villagers moved out. I was happy because it was ugly...then i found out i could choose who i got by doing the reset trick. So i decided to this do this so that i wouldn't get another ugly villager.

Every day since then i have been starting with a new character and looking around to see if anyone has moved in. No one so far..BUT today i started it of normally just like i do...new character..checked everywhere and nothing.
Then i went and started with my mayor and bang! There's a new house plot right next to me! I know for SURE that this was not there when i started with my new character.
So what happened here? Am i supposed to check more than once before using my mayor? So i make like 3 new characters a day so i can be sure that they house is there?
I'm really not happy with this new character it took forever for the old one to leave!!!

And theres one more thing i dont understand...so i know with the rest trick you can get different characters each time...and if the villager was invited from another town or from the camp site then by doing the reset trick you can just choose where there house is right?
So what if i reset when im getting a new villager and its the perfect villager but the house is in the worst place? If you reset you will get a new location AND character right? So if you get your dream villager and the house is all wrong then theres nothing you can do? Is there anyway to change its location but keep the same villager?

Thanks so much for any answers! Really would like to stop being confused ^^

I was wondering the exact same thing with the second question.

Did you save with the new character after finding nothing? If you don't save, the town will be re-created again when you log on as your mayor. You have to build a house (tent), register your new character and save the game once you are happy with what you have found.

if it is a random move-in, yes, you will lose the villager if you reset. I have a friend who resets for villagers and if the plot is in a horrible place she never looks to see who it was, she just resets.

When you make a new character and you don't see a new plot. You should ALWAYS save with that new character(getting a house plot and then talking to isabelle again to becoming a resident.) If you don't see a plot and you don't save with the new character, there is always a slight chance a new plot might load when you load up your mayor.

And yes if you get a villager from the camp or from another player, you can only reset where their house location is.

If you're reseting to get a new villager and it's your dreamie but in a bad location.... Well there's nothing you can do but keep reseting til you get the dreamie again and this time in a good location. There's no way to keep the villager and change its location if you're reseting to get a new villager. The only way would be from campsite or from another player and then you can just keep reseting til you get a good location

Hope that helps.

I did not save because i did not find anything. Then when i logged in as the mayor there was the house plot. So you mean if theres nothing then i have to save so that theres also nothing when im the mayor? Aw man this is so much work lol.

Okay thanks os so so much! That helps a lot...i watched a video and copied it but it never said you had to save if there was nothing. Now i know for next time.

Lols this might be why so many people are willing to pay millions of bells for their dreamies. Its way easier to reset for location than reseting for location AND dreamie.

Yep. If the town is how you want it (good villager or no villager) you have to save, because if you don't save, logging on as mayor regenerates the town all over again. It is a lot of work -- I only reset for location when I know someone's moving in; trying to reset for villager and location would make me crazy.
