Now, obviously, flimsy tools can be crafted and break. I don't believe we have seen any actual tools yet (correct me if I'm wrong), so it seems like flimsy tools are going to be present for the majority of the early game.

I'm assuming crafting materials can only be gathered every so often, whether it be once a day, once every few hours, etc. We also know that you can buy flimsy tools at the service building. My question is this: is there a limit to how many times we can buy said tools? If crafting materials do not regenerate quickly, is there only so much we can do in a day, especially if these tools can only be bought once? This would not be fun imo. I'm hoping flimsy tools can be bought multiple times, or crafting materials regenerate quickly (like every hour or two).

Another questions I have deals with the vaulting pole. With the rescue service, we can apparently get stuck. Does this mean the vaulting pole can break, too? Or is this for something else?

I don't like the name 'flimsy'.
It means easily damaged.

I hope we can upgrade tools early on.

You can see some proper tools in the direct and some customised tools in artwork.

This hasn't been confirmed yet but I assume it's the same as previous games where only a set amount of trees per day contained furniture, bells and bees, and it would reset the next day. It's most likely the case with materials too but this isn't confirmed.
Also, some of the 'proper' tools use flimsy tools to craft – this doesn't answer your question but I thought I'd let you know.

The vaulting pole probably won't break (not confirmed) but it's not labelled as flimsy. The rescue service is probably there for terraforming if you somehow get stuck, or maybe they removed the limit with bushes and trees. What I don't understand is that it costs Nook miles (500-600) so I'm not sure what would happen if you got stuck and you had insufficient Miles. Maybe Resetti will give you a long lecture instead.

I literally never thought about the vaulting pole breaking and you being stuck! omg

Sorry I do not have the answers but yikes xD

I wonder if there's a golden vaulting pole.

I reckon there is.
Able to pole vault an entire island in a single bound.

I would hate to be stuck if my vaulting pole was to ever break, but I don't think it will, as there doesn't seem to be another type of "vaulting pole" that we have yet to see. Also, I think when they say "stuck", it probably means that we don't know our way around the island just yet, as the rescue service could be available to us early on. Also, the rescue service might just be a quick way to get back to your house if you don't want to walk all the way back.

In the recent Direct, they did have a recipe for crafting better tools that you can purchase early on with Nook Miles. I might end up buying that first and would probably recommend others do the same, as getting good tools early will really help. :)

I believe the recent Direct showed upgraded tool recipes to buy with Nook Miles along with the tool ring. I assume we can buy these things in any order we choose so you could likely get some upgraded tools fairly early on. :)

@9:01 in the Direct - Pretty Good Tool Recipes for 3,000 Nook Miles. The question is, will "pretty good" tools break as well? If they do, I imagine their durability would be fairly higher than flimsy so limited materials wouldn't be such an issue and would be worth going after early on.

I have a feeling all tools will break, with the main end game tools, Golden Tools, being unbreakable.

Well a preview said they collected enough wood for both a fishing rod and a bug net in 5 minutes. So 2.5 minutes of collecting resources should make a tool. That doesn't sound like it's using all the resources possible in town, especially considering you can chop your trees without cutting them down for wood, like shoveling a rock.

I feel like within a few days you'll have a hoard of wood so it won't be a problem. Villagers might also give you gifts of wood and other resources for helping them.

I think Nintendo knows from playtesting and focus testing what would be annoying to players. I really doubt that, for example, they'd have your fishing rod break on you just as you're about to pull up the fish. That would be way too annoying.

I feel nintendo knows it's core base enough to not make this so unattainable difficult.
Kids would complain and whine if they couldn't play for a while because there was no regenerating supplies.

As for the vaulting pole, I am not sure, but that should remain a staple in the tools menu along with the ladder.

Oh shoot! I didn't even think about vaulting pool breaking and getting stuck! This changes a lot! I need to think about where to place my house so I don't get stuck and can't leave my house area lol.

For the record, I don’t think the vaulting pole can break, but I just don’t know the reason for a rescue service. If we’re at the point where we can terraform, surely we can terraform our way back. Maybe it really is just if you get lost.

I think the resue service might really be in for one of two things:

1. it is for much younger players who might have an easier time getting lost and losing their way around.

2. They couldn't think of anything else cute to do for Mr. Resetti that would be thematically appropriate. For all we know, to unlock the app we might have to pass out from wasps and then he comes yelling at us because he had to "save us" so we might as well know about his new rescue program and here is the app for that and by the way it will cost you some Nook Miles so don't you be calling him all willy nilly because he has other more important things to be doin'. :lemon:

all this talk of the vaulting pole is making me wonder... are we going to get a golden vaulting pole? one that never breaks perhaps with a fancy animation?

I posted that a while ago in this topic.

I think we will.
