After Mon and Tues, even the calendar says WTF
Here are some things I've learned that may be useful to new players and veterans alike. Please feel free to add your own findings so we can compile them here!
- To catch that gosh darn giant Isopod (large shadow), which moves far too quickly to chase down, swim up to the bubbles without using the 'A' button. Just the circle pad/joystick/whatever and it won't dart away. You can get really close to the bubbles and dive down on top of it to catch it.
- Hitting a rock while fruitified (TM) will break it. If it's the money rock, 8,000 bells will pop out at once. However, if you dig 2 holes behind you to prevent bouncing and hit the rock normally you can get 16,000. You have to get all 8 hits though.
- If you dig up Gulliver's communicator parts but don't return them, they become "rusted parts" in your inventory, which can be used in some crafting (ie: Robot Hero)
- On NMT islands that have hardwood/cedar trees, there will always be one piece of furniture in a tree. Also a wasp nest so have your net ready!
- Real Redd paintings will have a tag on the back. You can't check in his shop, but if a villager sends you one, you can try to check. It's kinda hard to see though.
- If a balloon present lines up with you on a cliff, you can pop it with your net. This rarely ever happens, but I've had it happen once where I could pop it with my net.
- Leaving DIYs on the ground counts as "trash" on your island rating. Wrap them with wrapping paper and bury them to prevent this. You can't bury them unwrapped and you can't store presents. I keep a list of what I have buried and you could colour coordinate the wrapping paper to remember what is what.
- If you give villagers a wall-item, such as the hanging terrarium, they will not display it. They will display wreaths and doorplates though.
- You get more friendship points with a villager if they give you an item in return rather than bells.
- You're guaranteed to get an item in return if the item you give them is worth more than 10,000 bells (check it's value by seeing how much the nooklings will buy it for. They pay 25% of an item's worth/buy price. If they'll pay 2,500 or more, you're good)
- You only need your island at 5 stars for 1 day to get the gold can (DIY). The other games required 15 days straight.
- If you're friends with someone via friendcode and have visited their island (or they have visited yours) you can mail them items both via Dodo and ship them items directly from your catalog. If you have more than one player on your island you can do this between one another too.
Any others?? Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say!!
