What?s everyone's opinion on rats?

I?ve found that most people who don?t like them are weirded out by their tails, or that they think they?re disease ridden, or red eyes.

I?ve got 3 girls and they?re the sweetest little trouble makers, one of them loves to groom my hand when i put it in the cage, and the other two have found the secret land of under the bed and refuse to come out unless there?s tasty treats involved.

I love rats! I think they're adorable. I had some rats once many years ago, but they weren't the kind that are normally sold as pets so they were very anti-social. I wanted to rescue them, so I bought feeder rats and kept them as pets. One was cream colored with red eyes and the other was charcoal gray with a white belly. I loved them very much.

I could be open to it. :) I cannot have pets where I live and I do not think I could give them as much attention as they deserve (so I choose not to have pets in general), but I do not see why not besides that.

i love rats i actually had a pet rat when i was little! my genius 7 yr old brain came up with the name dumbo for him because he was a dumbo rat :p

I think the not aggressive ones are cute :*) Back in my senior year of high school I used to work with animals. I didn't work with the rats, but I would go over there and try to pet them and stuff. Most were mean to people, but there were some that could be held and trained.

Your rats sound really sweet! I haven't kept rats myself, but I think they're cute, and I've heard in the past that they're quite intelligent.

I don't see anything wrong with you having pet rats, but I could never have any myself. I think I'm just averse to them because my mom worked in labs having to test on them for six years when she was getting her PhD back in the '90s and she grew to hate them. They creep her out to this day, and I think her hatred for them passed on to me. Again, I won't judge someone for having a pet rat, it's just not something I could do on my own.

i think they're cute and wouldn't mind having one in the future. don't think it would be a good idea to get one right now because my cat is still really young and playful.

I think they're super cute :) It would be fun to have a rat as a pet. One of my best friends has a couple (one of them recently died though :( )
I can't have rats right now though because my current cat is really territorial and can be mean and would probably hurt them if I let them out of their cage.

I think they can be cute. I've met a couple rats before and they were fairly nice and docile. I doubt I'll ever get one as a pet though, since my cat would probably try eating it. Just seems irresponsible to have them in the same house like that.

Rats are adorable! I don’t think I’d have one as a pet though; they’re personally not for me (I prefer birds). I’m a little afraid of them to be honest though, and I haven’t had the best luck with rodents. Buuut, still very cute. Haha

I don't mind people having rats as pets but I'm pretty sure I'll never have one since I kinda have a phobia of them. They're kinda cute though.

I?m a-ok with this! A friend I had growing-up had an albino rat as a pet and it was so cute! I personally need something bigger to cuddle so that I can impose hugs lol but I wouldn?t mind one as a pet. c: I?ve never understood people being scared of rats or mice. I get why you might be nervous about being bitten or that they may have fleas or disease or something (wild ones), but they aren?t scary.

I prefer mice, rats tails are disturbing to me. :<

Although, they are cute and valuable!

We have 2 male pet rats who are actually brothers & we love them. They're names are Nicodemus & Justin. We adopted them from a college who uses mice & rats to train future scientists. (For the record I'm against animal testing.) Our boys were never tested on but don't like rubber gloves too much. Our boys are really smart & rambunctious. lol! My mom used to be grossed out by rat tails but once she actually touched them and realized their just covered in skin she stopped being grossed out. Now she call the boys her "grand-rats". She loves them too.

(I crocheted this hammock & another one for them as a birthday present. It has clips that attach it to the cage.)

To me i dont mind rats unless if they are feral

I never had rats as pets when I was a kid, although I did have two gerbils. I don't mind rats at all.
