Really Odd Question…. Side Island?

So I saw a post where someone said they had a side island…. How do you do that? I have two Nintendo switches but only one copy of the game. Is it possible to start a new island on my old switch and not lose progress in my new one while using the same account? Would I need another copy of the game? Inquiring minds need to know, ha ha

If I recall correctly, the game is saved on your Switch so you can have only one copy of the game and one account as long as you have different Switches.

I have no idea how it work with backups etc. though.

Some people have a main island but also have a "side" or second island they use for other purposes like making bells,getting villagers,etc.This was a lot more prevalent in New Leaf because you could play multiple towns on the same 3DS.In New Horizons you have to buy another copy of the game and another Switch if you want to have a second island.
