I am looking for recommendations for not so popular NES and SNES games that are playable through Nintendo Switch Online.

I am looking for recommendations for not so popular NES and SNES games...
Was gonna say to start with one of the all-time greats in the Metroid series, but since that's a highly regarded game that most people would reasonably recommend... how about Pilotwings? I wanted to play that game at one point, because my interest in Pilotwings 64 bled into me wanting to play that game, but never got the chance to buy it. If you played Pilotwings 64, you might find something to enjoy in the SNES original. Keyword is "might", as I can't really recommend something I haven't played, so take this as more of a guideline to less popular games.

Well, I don't really have much of an idea as to what kinds of video games you may (or may not) like, but one game from Super Nintendo that appears to be obscure and that I personally enjoy is Demon's Crest (AKA Demon's Blazon). While it's not perfect and tends to be kind of short (there are different possible endings though), I still found it entertaining. I especially love the nocturnal atmosphere and "Transylvanian" setting. Wonderful soundtrack too, although it can get a bit monotonous at times. The graphic design and controls are very similar to those of the early Mega Man games (that shouldn't be too surprising since it was also developed by CAPCOM), so if you've already played those then you should know what to expect.

I wasn't certain if Demon's Crest was available on that Nintendo Switch thing, but a quick search indicated that it supposedly is. Anyway, here's a short YouTube clip so you can get a glimpse of the game and then decide if it interests you enough to actually want to play it:

Since I grew up with the SNES I will give some of the best SNES games you should try out:

1. Super Mario World
2. Donkey Kong Country
3. Donkey Kong Country 2
4. Donkey Kong Country 3
5. Yoshi's Island
6. Super Mario Kart
7. Super Mario All Stars
8. Earthbound

"Not so popular" and "available on NSO" are a bit of a limited criteria, but I'll try my best. Bear in mind I can't speak to the quality of playing these games on the Switch, so I'm writing under the assumption that the emulation is good.

Yoshi (NES)
This is a puzzle game that in discussions I've had always seems to get dismissed, but I rather enjoy it as a casual time waster. Very suitable for the Switch.

Adventures of Lolo (NES)
A cute, fun puzzle game.

Blaster Master (NES)
Fun, if a little antiquated, sidescrolling shooter.

Kirby's Dream Course (SNES)
Not as good as any mainline Kirby game, but a fun and addictive golf-style game that will ruin all your friendships if you play multiplayer.

Spanky's Quest (SNES)
Cute puzzle platformer about a monkey.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (SNES)
The Donkey Kong Country series in general is a widely acclaimed series, but I often see this touted as the worst in the series and I honestly don't think that's fair. It's absolutely worth playing.

There are probably more good games on NSO to try, but in terms of the ones which I have actually played, these are the only less popular ones I could think of.
