I feel like most people with a Switch have played Breath of the Wild. I've pretty much completed the game back in 2018 (for my standards at least) All shrines, all outfits, upgrades, Divine Beast, memories, pictures, story completed. (Yeah I could still do all 900 koroks but nah) And while I loved the game and spent so much time on it, there was not much more to do or explore. I've had no real interest in replaying it for a while.

Funnily enough though, it was showing my little cousin parts of the game that rekindled my interest in revising it again. I started a new file on my extra account and am now replaying the game with a different set of rules from my first play through.

For this run, I'm going be doing an exploration run. That means no towers, no teleporting using shrines. I can use horses if I find them, but no registering them in stables. No weapon or inventory upgrades, I have to use what I have until it breaks. No eating while in combat. I'm debating weather or not I'll allow myself to upgrade my hearts/stamina yet. I haven't unlocked any of the map (besides the plateau) and I don't really want to use it to see what direction I go in this time. I'm trying to go in as 'blind' as I can.I don't know if I'll ever recapture the feeling of exploration I had the first time I played it, but it defiantly adds some new flavor to the game.

So, have you replayed this game since you've finished it? Do you still continue to play/have things you haven't completed yet on your old file? If you would start a new game, would you enforce any challenges to make the game harder? I'd love to know~

I haven't replayed it yet, but I haven't technically done everything there is to do on my main file yet. Given the game doesn't have multiple save slots and I don't want to make another account, that pretty much leaves me with Master Mode which apparently has its own separate save slot. I've never attempted Master Mode in a Zelda game before so it will be interesting. Of course by interesting I mean me dying a lot.

That sounds like such an interesting run! I did something similar with a run I did where I used the pro hud (so I couldn't see the map, stealth meter, temperature gauge, etc.) and I'd recommend it for your run if you want the full effect.

I'd like to replay the game again soon, but I don't have any ideas for interesting runs or anything. Maybe I could finally try finding every korok or doing a Pokemon Snap thing where I try to complete the compendium. I've played on Master Mode before and I didn't really have trouble with it since running away is always your safest bet (the stealth gear was a must during that run lol).

I didn't even think of covering the hud, thanks!

I made it off the plateau, but I had to break my rule of not teleporting as I landed in some canyons and didn't have enough stamina to climb out...I forgot how dangerous early game stuff is, I ran into some black moblins near the bridges over the canyons and only had very low level swords to deal with them. Bombs and ice arrows are the best bet you can just freeze them and push them off the edge of cliffs.
And guardians are terrifying again when your only shield is a pot lid.

I should also note, I'm playing the game with the Japanese voice acting, its interesting to hear the characters in different languages. I might go for French or German next.

Oh yeah for sure! I've always played the game with Japanese audio, but that's more of a personal preference of mine. The English version is fine but the Japanese audio makes the game feel more genuine to me for some reason.

As for the guardians, I think learning how to parry their beams is a very rewarding endeavor. You may lose a lot of shields when everything is said and done, but it's worth it in my opinion. And you can always just, reload a previous save and get your shields back, heh.

Another tactic I use is shooting an enemy with an ice arrow when I haven't been spotted yet, stand behind them, wait for them to unfreeze, and stab them in the back. It puts my weaker weapons to good use because using them while sneaking up on unassuming enemies will cause them to deal, like, double damage or something. I don't know for sure, but yeah! I hope that helps you with your adventure a little bit!

This game is definitely one of the best games ever made. I don't see myself replaying it, but I definitely look forward to the sequel whenever it comes out.

I've been thinking about repurchasing & replaying it because I have it for WiiU & I really... want my play time to show up on my Switch profile. 🤡
Yes, I know that's a stupid reason to replay a 200+ hour game, but it's my stupid reason. I never went to beat Calamity Ganon, although I defeated all four divine beasts, specifically because the Switch came out. The game doesn't lag on Switch either, and the graphics look more HD.

Your exploration run sounds very hard. If you won't be teleporting, you can at least let yourself have a little stamina/heart upgrade, as a treat.

Yes, I've replayed it twice, once on normal mode again and then master mode which was a lot of fun and made me rethink my strategies.

I've wanting to do this on Master Mode to get a true die-every-5-seconds kind of experience. Between Age of Calamity and rewatching some trailers, I REALLY want to get back into this game. I 100%'d the whole game (Koroks and all), so I definitely wouldn't do that again. It would be more of a go-with-the-flow kind of experience, and I will probably try to do it without beating the Divine Beasts because I have a death wish apparently.

I feel you on this one. That's pretty much the situation I'm in; played it on Wii U for a solid 300 or so hours because I didn't get a Switch until this year, and I'm feeling like I want to add it to my library of Switch games (a grand total of... 2). I do question how much replayability I'd get from the game though. It has been 3 years, but I explored every corner of Hyrule and that is where 90% of my enjoyment came from in that game. No more vistas to discover, and there's not really any story to experience a second time over, aside from the memories, so I don't think it would be a worthwhile investment for me. Plus with BotW 2 on the horizon, I'd hate to burn myself out on replaying the first game (though the sequel could still be a while off, hard to say).

I guess there's the DLC which I never bought and also the gargantuan task of finding all 900 koroks. But again, not sure if I want to make that commitment with 2 coming in the future. I feel like if I cared about them enough, I would've done it long before now.

I accidentally deleted my savefile which was like 60-80 hours of mostly exploring and getting halfway through the main quest. So I was forced to replay everything, but thankfully it was a completely different experience for me. I don't think I'll want to replay it, by now I defeated Ganon and only have to take care of the million side quests and collections. That should keep me busy until BotW2.

I haven't replayed it yet, but I haven't finished it either. When I do get around to playing it again, I'll probably restart and replay it though. That's what I tend to do when I haven't played a game in a while~

I won't ever go back to the game because l already did everything there is to do in the game, and l already speed run the game multiple times including master mode. I finished it 7 times already which is the lowest of amount of times l finished a Zelda game. But it's nice that you're trying a faster harder way of finishing it. The craziest way l finished the game, was me going right to the boss fights in the castle after l did the beginner shrines. I only did that 3 times because l wanted to try different ways that is the easiest to get to the castle. But when l first played the game, it was already boring. So that's another reason why l did different ways of finishing the game, which l don't remember much. Have fun!

I’ve held off of beating Ganon because I don’t want it to be over.

So yeah, eventually I’ll replay. At this rate, it’ll be like playing it for the first time.

I havent replayed it
But ive watched my gf playing thw whole tine
It was her first time playing zelda
An amazing adventure and kept her entertained for hours

I recently completed it and went back to my old trusty N64 for some ocarina of time. Great idea to challenge yourself, gets me thinking.. sticking to one weapon, trying to fight everything I encounter without being killed, highest level skills, all armour, all easter eggs. That would be cool!

How is your run going op?

I never finished the game because I got distracted with other things. I restarted it a few weeks ago, but stopped playing it again. Today I finally got back to what I would consider a full-grind, and I'm feeling good about continuing. I definitely want to finish it proper before BotW 2 comes out. Would be nice to finish it before Skyward Sword, too...for that matter.
