I think this was their away around the unfortunate scenario of people getting stuck with no way to exit a location. With terraforming involved, it could be possible for you to (almost literally) dig yourself into a hole you can't escape from. The rescue service is a way to prevent your save file from being destroyed by doing something like this, is my assumption.I don't know why they would add getting stuck in this game. That doesn't seem very relaxing.
I really hope we can build bridges from day one if we gather the materials.
Oh, that's interesting. I assume that means your balance can go negative if you have to use it and don't have sufficient funds. Too many parallels to healthcare in some places!

Maybe Lyle will show up later on and sell you rescue insurance that makes it free, at the cost of a certain number of bells per month!

Chances are it'll auto-save before backing you out, so theoretically, you'd still be stuck. Unless you power down, but then you'll get yelled at by Resetti, and I'd rather spend the 500 whatever it is than hear him rant about why I didn't shut the game down properly.
Oh... Well, I barely ever get "stuck" in my New Leaf town, so i'm sure I'll barely use this feature.
Hmm I though it was just something they added in to give Resetti a job and so you could fast travel...but reading this it very well could be possible to get stuck. Lol well better always have 500 nook miles on you.
