I woke up yesterday, did my chores in Hollowyn. I checked my mail, receiving Blanca's pic, and then ran smack into Phineas. He gave me two badges - both for HHA points. Hehe, looks as though he beat Creepy Lyle in sending the notifications on that. I continued around, making sure things were running smoothly in Hollowyn.

And then I took a deep breath.

I've been putting off checking on Salem, because it's been such a long time. I was really worried about what I would find. Well, I was mainly afraid that my three favorite villagers - Beardo, Vic, and Dizzy - would have left me. But, it's time to get the town back on track.

So, I loaded up the game in my first 3DS (snazzy black one with a LoZ emblem) and time traveled back to the last day I had played. I couldn't remember what time I stopped, so I made it for the evening and logged in.

My first item of business was to scan the map and see who was there. Thankfully, no one had moved out. I must have ended on a day after someone had pinged. Oh, happy day.

Well, sort of. I had the Night Owl Ordinance in effect, so the town is in shambles. Weeds everywhere (Leif is camped out in front of my house, waiting for me to wake him so I can pull weeds), and I lost all of my hybrids except one gold rose. Well, they can be regrown, so that isn't the end of the world. And I'll hold off on pulling weeds until Weeding Day. Might as well get something out of it.

I quickly ran about, greeting my villagers, who said they missed me. I had missed Beardo calling me mon amie. :) Dizzy was looking for a time capsule I had buried for him. Seriously? I can hardly find the official buildings right now! Kitt had a cold; Mathilda wanted to gossip about everyone; Vic was his gruff self, but glad to see me; Bonbon, Roald, and Hazel (oh, that unibrow!) made me promise not to leave again; and Peggy pinged to move. I told her no, although it would free up a spot for a bridge. The only one I really would like to see move is Rocket. I've never cared for her.

Anyway, once I had settled that, it was time for the big jump. I brought the town up to the correct time and date. Of course, I had to reassure everyone again that I wouldn't leave, because it seemed as though I'd been gone a year. I calmed them all down and am trying to turn a blind eye to the sorry state of my landscaping. I used to be so proud of Salem's grounds. :(

I decided that since I was caught up in that regard, and my favorite trio was intact (Beardo said he was going to move, but that will happen never), it was time to start working on the real reason I had picked up a second unit and game - nearby town visits between Salem and Hollowyn. I'll get my visitor/hosting badges one way or another!

Prior to that, I visited the showcase and found that I had half a dozen or so houses. I picked up a few items I knew I needed for Hollowyn, including some Stripe series furniture. I also managed to get the full moon vanity, which is a DLC item. Yay!

Once that was done, I opened the gates and brought Emerald to Salem. I was able to catalog several things between the two, so that was nice. I also sold some turnips, since Hollowyn was on a decreasing streak. It wasn't much of a profit, but at least I didn't lose any bells.

Then I sent Emerald home, checked Erin's mail, and brought her to Hollowyn. Dropped the items I had ordered, as well as a few dresses and black stockings I bought at Salem's store. I love being able to catalog things like that. Then I took Erin back to Salem.

The last thing I needed to do was the one I really hate doing - cleaning house. I was going from room to room with that, when Hazel surprised me by dropping in unannounced. She stepped in, said hello, and then started screaming about cockroaches, and ran out again. *sigh* The irony is that I only had one last bug to stomp and the house was clean. If she had been just a couple minutes later, it would have been over. Well, at least it wasn't Beardo.

It still hurts to see what the town has become, but I know I can make it look beautiful again. Maybe I'll take a trip over to the island and stock up on flowers. A little color will go a long way toward making things look more cheerful and less abandoned.

Sorry for such a long post, but there was quite a bit to mention. It should be a little easier going forward.

Much respect for your motivation. xD If I had let my town go for that long, it would be extremely hard for me to start it back up. I have all of those same fears myself. At first I didn't think that your villagers moved in this game unless they had a chance to tell you and you allowed them, but apparently such is not the case. Can't wait to see some of Salem!

Thank you. I almost did scrap it, in large part because of why I had stopped playing in the first place. Then I figured that was silly, and my boy certainly wouldn't have liked that.

Now I know what I'm dealing with, no one moved out, and I'll get my bling for Weeding Day later this month.

It'll be a while before I post pics, since I want Salem cleaned up first, but I promise I'll share life there, as well as in Hollowyn. :)

Yes, I missed Salem! It's always hard to clean up a town once its been gone so long. I've never had such an experience with Shizen, but I have purchased Wild World games from GameStop before. The towns were always messy after being abandoned. :p

I'll be looking forward to updates! :)

Thank you, I missed it, too. It'll take a lot of work to maintain both towns, but it'll be fun, as well.
