As we've all seen in the Switch My Way trailer, the rivers in New Horizon will vary a lot and therefore towns will be even more diverse than before!

But I haven't seen this detail being discussed anywhere yet. The river seems to be really close to the cliffs on this map, almost touching the edge and leaving no space on the right side of the river to walk there or even build anything.

I wonder what this will look like in-game. Or maybe I misinterpret the map?

I don't like long, narrow strips of land like that, but I don't know if resetting will change anything as they all seem to look similar to your map.

yeah it does look really close to the edge; its kinda hard to tell tho

Does dark green signify higher terrain?

After looking more closely, it must. I don’t see anything else that could be represent high terrain. But I just don’t want long pieces of land that are trapped in between a cliff and a river. It’s so hard to decorate them.

I'm guessing the maps are just that random. Like maybe the river shape and what layers we have are both independent of one another. (I.e. that same river shape but one large second level or that same shape of levels with a different river shape that doesn't go on that side of the map)

Idk. Map resetting might take a while with this one lol

Yes it does, in the trailer you could see the mom's character close to the cliff and also her position on the map which pretty much confirms that the lighter sections represent a higher level.

I really wonder what that section would look like in-game because the water of the river must nearly overflow the edges of that cliff.

Okay thanks for confirming!
