It seems rocks are breakable using fruit power!

According to these images, rocks are breakable! No longer the days of getting ticked off at the rocks for being in the way. Just break them and let them respawn somewhere else!

Nice! And it's cool that the stamina isn't used just for trees, otherwise that would've made the system a bit redundant.

Yo, that’s awesome! This game is gonna change so much and honestly? I’m really digging it. Some fresh air in the franchise. I can’t wait to break those darn rocks and have my perfect island town <3

Assuming that you can also have the option to dig up a rock like a tree?

Honestly I really hope that’s the case, and it would make sense. I’d love to have a little rock garden!

Dialogue indicates they likely act like New Leaf's fake rocks. Completely shatters them for resources, but they respawn the next day in a random location.

Probably needed to be since we will be terraforming. Glad to know they won't be in the way.

So we just power up like every anime guy by eating and we can smash rocks too? Heck yeah! If only I could Hulk Smash the rocks back in my NL town ✧︎\ ٩(•́ι_•̀ )و /✧︎

Considering in NL I had the perfect spot for my third bridge in my town and I literally could not build it cause of a stupid rock in the way this is huge! That rock still bugs me to this day even though I no longer play NL...

You've no clue how many times I've restarted my town looking for the perfect town map, only to finally find one and instantly know where my house is to go, only for a bloody rock giving me the finger, just sitting exactly where my house needs to go.

The feeling when you finally find the perfect map, only to have rocks in terrible locations

First thing I'm going to do is whack all my rocks for their resources then destroy them all lol.

Finally! No longer having to arrange pathways around rocks or incorporating them into the scenery you want to decorate.
Respawning randomly is fine since they can just be broken until they spawn in an acceptable place.

OMG what a relief.... i'm glad they (probably) respawn too! it would suck to break all the rocks cuz they were in bad spots but want some in different locations.

Wait, so if I’m understanding this correctly, he’s not talking about a fake rock, but ones that spawn ore and money?

I think it means all rocks aren't permanent, essentially. If you haven't eaten a fruit, they act like money rocks and pop out random material but if you eat a piece of fruit, you can shatter them like ore rocks. Then they likely respawn the following day in a different location.

Rocks appear to be pseudo-permanent.

|sf>One of the long videos from PAX yesterday (I don't remember which one.) showed someone breaking a rock and the player found a stone for crafting from it, but I just assumed that it was the fake rock. That's very interesting information to know.

Here’s a haiku to show my feelings:

This new reveal brings
overwhelming happiness:
No rocks in my way!

Glad the rocks can be broken now. I hated some rocks in NL when I had to re-work my town design in order to get past a rock
