Romance in Animal Crossing?

Yup... but like other people mentioned, slight romance between the NPCs would be cute. I mean, Isabelle works so hard, she deserves some love in her life. I've always liked her with Kicks, I think it would be a cute couple if they ever interacted with eachother.

I also ship the villager personalities with eachother. The farthest Animal Crossing would go with romance would probably be the animals admitting that they like the other one, but not to eachother, but to the mayor. And the mayor is just like: BUT YOU GUYS BOTH LIKE EACHOTHER but then nothing ever happens. xD

How has nobody mentioned about the subtle relationship between Whitney and Apollo in the movie yet?

I think the idea of romance, bromance and sisterhoods initiated by the mayor hooking up villagers sounds similar to Tomodachi Life's mechanics. Imagine the two villagers fighting in one of their house's and throwing furniture or items in general at each other and the mayor has to break them up though. Yikes. x,DD

I'd be pretty up for the entire idea in every way.

I used to have a crush on Egbert when I was younger because he used to flirt with me... I used to take this game WAY too seriously XD

I think you should be able to flirt back tho.... that is one thing that really annoyed me because I wanted to flirt with Marshal... I did that through letters but it didn't work out XD Anyway, I like the game how it is and I think romance would make it a little... strange... I don't want it turning into some kind of furry game (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I wouldn't be interested in dating the villagers, but I do ship some of my villagers with one another. Antonio, Anabelle, and Keaton have some sort of triangle going on, and Midge and Hazel both seem to try to impress Beardo (personally, I'm rooting for Midge here).

Since ACGC, we've been hearing about Pelly, Pete, and Phyllis. And I've heard some chatter about a flirtation between Sable and Tom Nook. I wouldn't mind more of that type of activity, but nothing that would make the game lose its innocent feeling, either.

Animals + Animals - Yeah sure why not, to a degree (like in the animal crossing movie as mentioned by PlasmaPower; Apollo and Whitney had an interesting character story tbh)

Humans + Animas - Hell no, I don't want Animal Crossing to go into that territory haha

I wouldn't mind romance, but I don't want it directed towards the mayor, I'd rather see it between villagers, that would be kinda adorable, and then you could sort of influence the relationship, like say Flurry would ask you- "Oh, do you think I should invite Hamphrey over today?" and you could have the option to tell her yes and set them up, and then they would write letters back and forth to each other or make gifts and then you'd have to deliver the gifts, or else if you delivered it to the wrong person, they would get the wrong idea about so and so liking them, or if you forgot about delivering the gift, their relationship would only stay at friendship level or worsen.

I don't know, I think it'd be kinda cute to play cupid! :D

I don't need romance in my game because it is already there between my mayor and Roald. Imagination is a wonderful thing.

Seriously what was I supposed to think when Roald spent the first two hours of my playing this game begging to use the nickname I reserve for close friends, said it was time to take out friendship to the next level by visiting my home and gave me a shirt with a heart on it?

I wouldn't mind romance if it did not involve the mayor. I think it would be cute and induce some life into the game.

I think it could be cute, between the villager, but the whole game should NOT turn into "Animal Crossing: Make your ships come true" But maybe if villagers had eachothers on a friendship ladder.

Like, the player can talk with them, and send them letters if they wish to increase their friendship. If, let's say, Erik had talked a lot with Fauna, then they will become closer friends, and first THEN villagers will start about how they have seen them together.
The villagers will also show the player letters they have got from each other, and will ask the player more often to deliver presents between them.
And sometimes they will (Like said before) admit their crush , but they won't tell the other villager, because they are "too shy"
