I have no more villagers waiting outside for me to design their home, yet I still have a lot of empty spaces in my catalogue. I haven't used any cards apart from the one I got free with the game. Is that it for me then unless I get the 'main' characters such as KK Slider, Isabel? I have redesigned a few old houses today.

only so many villagers will pop up outside the happy home shop if you havent completed all isabelle constructions. If you do another isabelle building more villagers will appear
I have completed all of hers, the public buildings.

So you've designed all 334 villagers houses? Or have they just stopped coming?
It says I have done 331 villagers but no 'specials' apart from Digby, I must have used up all my villagers then. When I say i still have spaces in my catalogue I mean that when you say go into say 'garden' I still have some gaps where the new items go.
I wonder what the 3 difference is (Bet 334 & your 331)
There is the DLC - presumably you have done Louie & Filly. And there will be more to come.
I'd go back & redesign a few of the houses/do any specials I have cards for.
The villager figurine opens up the gold statue & I would guess other ac figurines might open up bits as well.

I haven't got Louie and Filly I don't think as haven't got a hotspot near us. Thank you for your reply.
What region are you in? I don't know about anywhere else but in NA they are spotpassing out. I do not know if you can still get Louie but you can still get Filly upstairs in the office.
I just got Louie this morning! He is still available. I was not in a Nintendo zone either, just in my house

You get items from the DLC special characters (like Louie) and also from the HHN challenges (like the Sweetest Home Ever). You also receive items from some villagers when you redesign their home (I got another shirt and extra music from Chops, for instance).
