Scallops with full inventory?

technically i think it’s possible because it’s a trade, very much like a villager giving you something back after you give them a gift with your pockets full

But the scallop wouldn’t be in your inventory at that point so you wouldn’t have space for the gift if that makes sense

I had a scallop today and it was the only one I caught in one session and it was my last item for my inventory and I did have a mini panic but luckily he didnt show up . The next one I caught though he did!

Yup same with me- had a full inventory he did not show, but as soon as I cleared my bag he showed up!

He will visit if it's the last spot in your inventory, and the scallop will be swapped with the DIY/pearl, but from my experience, if it's full and you'll have to trade the scallop with something, he won't come

I was thinking about if your inventory was full. That happened to me in New Leaf and I got nothing.

Same with me. Full pockets, no Pascal. I'm really careful now to stop diving before my pockets are full if I haven't seen him yet.

If you have to toss something to make room, he won't show up.

Let's pretend you can hold 10 items.
You have 9/10, and then pick up a scallop. You now have 10/10 items.

Pascal appears... He takes your scallop. You now have 9/10 items. He leaves you a reward. You now have 10/10 items.

Simple...right?

EDIT: I'm not thinking of the situation right. I was assuming the scallop was the 10th item, not the 11th.

i’ve personally never had him show up if i caught a scallop with my pockets full - he’s only shown up for me when i’ve been able to put the scallop immediately into my pocket ;u;

It’s ok if they’re full even if you find a scallop! Just go empty them then dive again. If you find another scallop he will still show up even if you had full pockets and found a scallop beforehand.
