I remember when I landscaped my first town. It seemed that with minimal effort, I achieved perfect town status and I was like, "Oh, cool. They must've made it easier in this game."

NOPE!

I landscaped Bunifrey, planted I don't even know how many flowers, planted shrubs and trees when Isabelle said there wasn't enough greenery.

Then she started spewing that there weren't enough PWPs. So, I picked up sections of flowers and put down several projects thinking that would fix it.

Again, that would be a huge effing NOPE.

NOW she's saying there isn't enough greenery. I just...I'm done. I wanted to unlock the town hall renovations so I could have my town hall and train station have matching designs, but clearly it just wasn't meant to be.

Sigh.

Try filling your beach with palm trees and line trees up along the train station fence. Maybe get some bushes too?

Believe me, I have. I actually went around and counted all of the trees and shrubs I have. I'm well within the requirements for that. That's why I dunno what the deal is.

My issue with the perfect town rating is that it recognizes my cute lil outdoor decor as "garbage". like UM excuse me but if I say placing nine gyroids around my town tree is art, then it's art. I'm the mayor. Art is subjective. But these animals are uncultured and to them anything that's not a pretty little flower is "weeds and trash" /hmph

You can come steal a bunch of flowers from my town :3 both my beaches are covered (i go on a lot of butterfly discovery tours so I'd have them replaced in no time ^.^) and they're all around my town.

That's why I wish we could decorate exterior areas with our furniture rather than just the PWPs, kinda like in Happy Home Designer. It'd be really cool and my first time playing the game, I was surprised to find you couldn't.

Make sure you have 10 villagers.
Your PWP's might be ones that reduce your Perfect Town Rating?

I would seriously love that. No PWP farming, no being restricted to fruit and gyroids for decorating... just a random cow skull here and there among the bushes <3

Do you have the campsite, cafe, and police station all built? I had the same problem in Catopia, and then I built the cafe, and the next morning I had a perfect town.

I have ten villagers, every square inch of my town is covered in flowers, trees, shrubs and to a lesser extent, bamboo.

After pulling up flowers for more PWPs, I now have:

Two illuminated hearts (though I've read that the illuminated stuff actually counts AGAINST perfect town...)
Two metal benches
Custom deisgn sign
Flower Arch
Two square topiaries
Lighthouse
Two fountains
Two flowerbeds

And of course the caf?, campsite and police station.

So...I dunno what else to do.

How many trees did you plant? It's been a long time since I attempted to achieve perfect town, but if I remember correctly there is a maximum numbers of trees you can plant in order to achieve perfect town. I think it was something around 170 trees...? If you have tons of trees, maybe try to chop a few down.

Oh and also, certain PWPs actually reduced your perfect town point. I believe some of them were picnic blanket, trash can, fire hydrant, traffic signal. I don't remember the rest though x_x;

I find that building some lamp posts and park clocks put it up a little. I once made a town with just those and it got to perfect rather quickly.
Apart from that I'm not sure what else you can do.

I'd either remove the illuminated hearts or build some more PWPs to make up for them. I had about 10 PWPs when I got my perfect town, but I don't think any of them were negative like the illuminated stuff.

I don't think you can have too many trees in New Leaf. I have a lot of them in my town and they don't get in the way of a perfect town.

Same happened to me! I had a perfect town for 20 days straight, and all of a sudden, NOPE
Isabelle says I need more PWPs because my town feels "a bit barren overall," So ok. I build like 5 more PWPs.
It still doesn't change. So I don't know what's up with my game, but... it's annoying the crap out of me.

I destroyed my illuminated hearts, and I'm still not in perfect status.

And I really don't care anymore. It already cost me a fortune building a bunch of PWPs I didn't even want, and I loved my town the way it was. If that's not good enough for Isabelle and the villagers...too bad!

I know that if you have less than 10 villagers it's possible that it might be bringing your rating down, also watch out for tree cluttered spots, those can also bring down your rating I believe. I've also heard pwps like the illuminated arch can also decrease points.

Weird, I usually have the easiest time getting perfect town status. In all four of my towns I got it pretty early. I never even planted any bushes. Just built 5-6 easy PWPs, made sure the flowers/trees were all spread out, and not clumped together...made sure all the weeds were pulled...made sure no items were on the ground...as long as I did those things, I had no problem getting perfect town status.

I probably would've had an easier time if I had tried to get perfect town and THEN landscape and make my town the way I wanted it.

Well, hindsight and all that...oh well. Learn from my mistake, folks!

And I have a brand new town to try and make perfect, so no big loss, I suppose.
