What are some of your favorite seasonal food/snacks and drinks?
☘️🌼🍁❄️
Any food/snacks and drinks you've seen or heard of that you want to try but you haven't tried yet?

☘️🌼🍁❄️

What are some memorable activities that you enjoy that are tied to the season because of the weather or because of tradition?

I'm not a huge fan of autumn, BUT I do love candy corn, and I always loved trying to make my way through a corn maze we have here. Sadly, I don't really participate in eating/doing either anymore...

Winter months are fun and fattening because of: champurrado, hot chocolate, pozole, tamales, candy canes, cakes (chocolate and strawberry), cookies, and pan de reyes.

I LOVE eggnog come winter time! Also I'm a HUGE fan of autumn and winter beer styles...oktoberfest, pumpkin ales, porters, stouts...not to mention I dig hard cider as well! Good stuff.

Autumn
I love making pumpkin baked goods in Autumn; pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting, and pumpkin rolls. I also like to get pumpkin spice lattes from the coffee shops. A bag of Brach's candy corn is obligatory to put in the candy jar to slowly graze upon throughout October.

As for things I want to try, as I mentioned in the alcohol thread that oath2order made recently, every year I'm tempted to try pumpkin flavored alcohol. I never have because I'm strictly a social drinker and the opportunity hasn't presented itself, but I might just go for it eventually.

As activities go, I've mentioned it in other threads fairly frequently over the years, but I conduct a month-long horror movie marathon throughout the month of October in honor of Halloween (that also extends into November 1st and 2nd to incorporate Día de Los Muertos). I like to go around looking at the trees as their leaves change colors. I enjoy walks during foggy Autumn mornings as well as walking as the sun's going down in the evenings to take in the beautiful sunsets. I also like to get a few pumpkins to carve even though I'm not artistically inclined.

Winter
I bake Christmas cookies for family and for my best friend/her family. I of course partake in some of them as well. As far as drinks are concerned, I get a carton of egg nog for Christmas and New Year's. Hot cocoa is the drink of choice to warm up on a cold Winter's night.

A sorta kinda tradition for New Year's Eve that I like to hold to is watching episodes of the original The Twilight Zone television series that ran from 1959-1964. They used to run a marathon of it on the SyFy channel back when I had cable years ago and I decided to keep the tradition going.

I don't really have any foods or activities tied to Spring or Summer. Autumn and Winter are my favorite parts of the year as I prefer cooler temperatures and all the things those seasons have to offer.

i love autumn, some of my favorite fall treats are the pumpkin spice frapuccino and latte, also these bad boys:

i also love winter because its hot chocolate season. it's the perfect season for me because i hate hot temperatures.

the first thing that comes to mind for me is hot chocolate! i know i could technically drink it year-round if i wanted to, but honestly the weather’s too hot for me for a big chunk of the year to even think about drinking it during any time other than winter LOL. hot chocolate has always been a comfort drink for me, and it’s so delicious! frozen hot chocolate also slaps, and that i can drink year-round happily 🤤

i also love the halloween and christmas pillsbury sugar cookies, the white chocolate-covered oreos and sugar cookie cinnamon toast crunch cereal that comes out during christmas time, and boxes of chocolate/sweets like pot of gold, quality street, and guylian chocolate seashells! i know i can also get the latter year-round, but they’re typically only christmas time treats for me hehe

as for activities, my favourite has always been going on drives with my mom around christmas time to look at christmas lights and decorations! we don’t do this as much as we used to anymore, but we’ll usually drive around 2-4 different cities (including the one we live in) to look at all of the decorations put up around them— lights, inflatables, giant trees, illuminated decorations, etc galore! my christmas time drives with my mom are just as magical and special to me as they were when i was a kid— i love them so much 🤍

For food, it's mostly the change in seasonal fruits! There are a few other things too.

Summer: blackberries, grapes, watermelon, nectarines, peaches. Also, barbecues.
Autumn: kiwifruit.
Winter: oranges, mandarins, kiwifruit! Also, vegetable soup, hot chocolate.
Spring: ??

As for activities, spring/summer is definitely the beach. 🏖 Winter is fireplaces, staying warm and being a homebody. 😭 I'm not a huge fan of autumn, but autumn is cute for seeing interesting fungi in the forest.

Summer
OOOO i love summer a lot. Barbecues, smores, fresh fruit, ice cream. So so good. I love having bonfires, grilling, taking walks and just enjoying the warmth and the sunshine. Sobbing bc it's almost over here in the northern hemisphere and I feel like my world is ending.

Autumn
BUT BOY HOWDY DO I LOVE AUTUMN!!!!!!! in my state i swear it last for 1 week before it gets crappy. But I LOVE AUTUMN SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! CIDER MILLS! SOUPS! HALLOWEEN! HOT APPLE CIDER! CIDER MILLS (AGAIN!) LEAVES!!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I LOVE AUTUMN SOOOOOO MUCH BASDJUIHWSAUJNKSASA HALLOWEEN HALLOWEEN HALLOWEEN 900000 BUGS BURN IN HELL

Winter

hell on earth. my opinions on winter flip and flop every year. but i enjoy christmas and hanukkah, a LOT. i'm not an outdoorsy person during winter, i very much become a homebody. this is when i love to catch up on my video game backlog, do crafting, make some really hearty foods (stews! more soups! whole darn chickens!!) and otherwise just enjoy the modern commodity of central heating.

Spring
hate spring tbh i spend the entirety of spring being afraid of tornadoes and thunderstorms. wasps are back. but i luv 2 !!garden!!

i just passed through an in store starbucks earlier today (didn't actually purchase anything) BUT I SAW THAT PUMPKIN SPICE IS BACK BABY! i love ordering an iced chai with a couple shots of the pumpkin spice syrup. it's still too warm here to really be in the mood for that, but i'll definitely stop by in the next coming months for some pumpkin inspired drinks~ i was walking by too fast but i wonder if they're gonna bring back the iced apple crisp oatmilk macchiato 👀 i really enjoyed that drink last fall too!
