If you make a second character, to move a townie out, do you also have to bring out the mayor each day. Will the townie leave without the mayor playing?

If this is to attempt that "ignoring" method to get someone to move.. It has NEVER worked with me, and most people I've spoke to have also reported that it's a completely useless method of getting villagers to move

However because of this, I have no idea on the answer.. I presume that your Mayor would need to speak to all the residents (besides the odd one out) as well, or else it'll seem like the Mayor's ignoring them all, and the method is useless

The ignoring method works as long as you talk to the villager a bunch of times before ignoring them. Idk that's how I got some villagers to move; doesn't always work, tho

This method worked for me exactly once. What I did was use the second character to ignore the one I wanted out. Then used the mayor in the same exact way.

I've been trying really hard to see a pattern of why some villagers move, and it may truly be random. Some want to move almost right after they move in. Some you've been talking to and building a relationship for a while, and they decide to move. I don't know, I wish there was an easier way.

I have TT a lot of the townies out but I have one that will not go. I think 2 years of ignoring is enough. I'm want her gone and thought to try this method. Thanks for the info.

I was so desperate to get rid of the birds that I ended up time traveling 3 years ahead and ended up having diva, my only non bird move out. Pouts. When one finally told me he was going to move I said good bye and the silly thing said nope and ended up staying. So I time traveled back to my normal year. Oh well, just like real life, can't always get what we want. lol

Man, that sounds excruciatingly annoying, monica! On my second character (she's basically my path layer and additional storage bank), I was mean to a townie I wanted to move (Penelope) and by the 2nd day Penelope said she was thinking about moving. My character replied "Good. Good bye", to which Penelope replied all snooty "Now I KNOW I made the right choice!". So I logged back on as my main (Mayor) and spoke with Penelope - we've always had a nice relationship, its simply her house blocks the way of a bridge I want to build - and she reiterated that she was thinking about moving on the 9th "To spread the wonders of our lovely little town..." to which my main replied "Good plan!" and she delightedly affirmed she'd be moving.

I'm not sure which game 1st... Penelope's deciding to move on her own (random friend event) or the fact that my 2nd character was less than pleasant/cordial with her. Their relationship started out tersely, so I just went with it out of curiosity. They'd only met twice previously so it seemed rather sudden, and a bit out of the blue. I have nine villages currently, and recently completed the campsite PWP, so maybe that prompted it?
