Pokémon Shaymin vs Manaphy

Manaphy. While I enjoy Shaymin and I did start Pokemon with generation four, Manaphy just appeals to me more on design and its movepool. I also kind of enjoyed the movie for Manaphy more than I enjoyed the movie for Shaymin. c:

This one's tough, but I'm going to have to give my vote to Manaphy. I first saw Manaphy when it appeared from a Pok? Ball in Super Smash Bros. Brawl; I hadn't seen it before that because it was during the sabbatical from the series I had taken from Generation 3 up until HeartGold & SoulSilver came out, so I didn't catch up on the Sinnoh games and those Pok?mon until after I got back into the series. I was surprised by the Heart Swap gimmick and immediately thought it was pretty neat. The fact that it can breed is pretty neat too, though, albeit understandable, it's a shame that the resultant Phione cannot evolve into more Manaphy.
That said, I do like Shaymin, and actually prefer it in some ways. Its Land Forme is adorable, it's my favorite type (Grass), and while I don't particularly like the Sky Forme personally, it's neat that it has that aspect. Unfortunately, I just find Manaphy more interesting.

I love both, but Manaphy has my heart. I hatched one in Pearl after my brother sent me the egg from Pok?mon Ranger, and I doted on it. I've loved it ever since I first saw it when I was 8. Don't get me wrong, Shaymin's cute, and I love the pun it bears (being a literal hedge-hog) but Manaphy's gonna win for me every time. That little smile melts my heart, I just wanna hug it!
Shaymin will always be my favorite more than Manaphy, but I will admit, both are really great. I really love Shaymin's Skye form and I once had a Japanese Shiny Shaymin and I really loved it, but later on I discovered it was not legit. It made me sooo sad, but I'll still always love it even though it's gone now. So I really love both Shaymin in shiny form and normal form too.
I like them both! They both remind me of a time in my life where I got really excited about Pokemon again, after skipping Gen 3 originally (though not by choice! I just.... was a kid and no one ever got me the games lol).
Ultimately, though, I went with Manaphy! I remember being SO excited that it could breed, even though looking back on that gimmick, it's actually.... pretty boring and not very useful at all other than helping to fill out the dex. Admittedly, Shaymin's gimmick is more interesting to me now, but! Luckily their gimmicks aren't really the only thing I'm considering!
Overall, I like Manaphy's color scheme and design a lot more, too! I also really remember enjoying the movie about it back in the day. But I think the biggest thing is probably one of the pokemon cards I got as a kid featuring it! Back in my childhood, my cousin and I used to collect pokemon cards and use them.... as dolls.... We would never play the actual card game. But anyway, I remember one time my mom took us to the store with our allowance, and we bought a box of pokemon cards to split! And the best card I got was a Manaphy card. It quickly turned out to be one of my most used 'dolls' whenever we played with our cards lol. Kinda weird, I guess, but there it is.
