One of my villagers told me they like to stare at the sky and watch for shooting stars. I didn't know if it was hinting at something or just idle chat. I still haven't seen any shooting stars to try it out on.

Because Meteors do not grant wishes like Shooting Stars.

You need to be out in your town past like 8pm and at somepoint a shooting star might go.
It's very quick and you need to be like uber speedy to do it.

It was easier on the DS, because you had two screens and could monitor the sky at all times, but in City Folk, you have to press up in order to view the sky. This makes it almost impossible for you to actually get a wish off a shooting star.
