There are a number of different computer items, however they have no additional function outside of being decorations. I can see a number of different functions a computer could provide. One of which could be easy access to the item catalogue. After all, most people don't visit a store simply to order something in the mail when they could most likely do it online. The catalogue device could still exist at the store though for those who don't want a computer in their house.

Are there any other functions you could think of for a computer in Animal Crossing? I'm sure there could be a lot of them, considering computers are used so often in our daily lives.

Mini games, like the Wii U and 3DS items. Or even some kind of online functionality. Maybe we can post screenshots on social media through it?

It could be an unlockable PC or something from one of the shop owners so you can order items from your house- like online shopping.

Similar to unlocking the ABD so you can take money out at home.

You'd still have to go to the shop to unlock items though

I love that idea, if you wake up early in the morning you can place an order before it opens so pete can deliever it faster, depending on what time you placed it it will arrive at 9am or 5pm like usual.

There are some pretty cool ideas in this thread!

I think it’d be cute if they brought back the journal function from ACGC as an e-journal or something. Or as the actual journals themselves, I always liked getting the different ones.

EDIT: I think if Miiverse were still a thing this would’ve been a cool way to implement it.

Didn't realize this was in the Animal Crossing Switch subforum at first so I just sat thinking about how you would have even come up with a topic like this, hahaha

But yeah, I think it would kinda cool to have some kind of function for the computers.

That could have some potential for sure. It would be great as a replacement for the journals, or having a calendar listing birthdays and events.

I like everyone's ideas, esp the catalogue idea. I go to the store alot to order furniture, so having a catalogue near by is great for me.

I see this really more so as the phone from Pocket camp, but possibly making our storage 'electronic'. Similar to how you can look up keywords in the catalogue, do the same thing, but for our storage. Allow us to look up 'plant' and all the plants in our inventory pop up and allow is to get them in our pockets for easy access. Looking throu my storage gets tiresome with 2 different storage units, esp when looking for that one specific item I can't find cause I haven't organized my drawers recently.

When it comes to mini-games, there is one game that needs to be available: Minesweeper
(Animal Crossing Edition).

Other then mini-games, maybe the option to send emails? Like besides letters, you can
now send emails to villagers who also have a computer or to your friends when they are
online (and also have a computer in their houses).

Alternative, if the game has DLCs or other things you can get via eShop, then maybe you
can connect to the eShop by using the computer.

Besides these, maybe you could also open the photo album of your Switch if you want to
see the pics you made in the game by using the computer. After all, there a many things
to make the computers more useful in the game besides them being just decoration.

It could be an unlockable PC or something from one of the shop owners so you can order items from your house- like online shopping.

Oh, I really like this idea!

I've never thought of having usable computers in AC before but it actually makes a lot of sense and would be awesome! I love everyone's ideas c:

This would be so cool! Kind of like online shopping?

1. Online banking so you don't have to rely running to the ABD and back.

2. Classic computer games!

3. Maybe you could email your villagers? I mean, you can already send physical mail to them and not everyone has a computer...

4. For villagers who do have computers, you could play alongside with them in an original multiplayer game! I can picture playing with Bones on his cute computer. :3

i think uh old retro games like they did on the Gamecube version. However i dont think nintendo will not do that, as they can earn money when you use switch online

This idea is actually really cool it'd be nice to see a bunch of functionable furniture available like you proposed for computers, something that allows you to order catalog items from home would be nice to see

I love this idea! Sometimes I just don't want to go to the store to order something and having this at the home would make it much easier. I mean, I don't mind going all the way to the store, but I've always kinda wanted more interaction with the computer furniture and doing this would actually be fun!

Yes, I love the idea of catalog shopping and email...AC should get on with the times but then again, the main reason why I like AC is it's a relaxing game. Imagine if you are reminded again of emails and stuff, it's stressful!

i really like the idea of being able to use the existing computer items (and any new ones if they make them) as journals! i love keeping a personal journal for writing about shows, music, games, anime and other things. i like to write things that happen day to day so it'd be nice to keep track of plans and things i'd like to do in the game :3 it'd be nice if there would be different design templates or maybe even let the player design it (。♥∀♥) ! i would absolutely love that!

I think it would be really neat to see computers have some kind of functionality, even if it's just for little things like playing a minigame, looking up the catalog, or sending virtual letters to your friends from towns far away.

Also sing it as a reminder, like I read above that Snowesque said it could be used for reminders like birthdays and stuff. That would be cool too.

idk i kind of like how animal crossing represents getting away from technology (by utilizing technology)
