Should Computers Have a Function?

I love your idea! But yeah, I think having the catalog in-store in some way would still be good. For one, you probably won't start out with a computer, and for another, it's the same IRL - if they don't have something in-stock, you can sometimes ask the store employees to order it for you.

Otherwise, I think it would be cool to have some sort of email or chat system, maybe for messaging villagers who moved out of your town, or who live in other towns.

A few people also mentioned adding a journal, which also sounds cool! Or since someone mentioned Miiverse, it could also be a reduced version as a blog, where you only see stuff from your Switch friends.

Actually I like the idea of having email from people who want to move just to give me a heads up instead of actually going out there and meeting them by chance, but we do have the mail system for that right?

I hope the computers get some kind of function, but it shouldn't feel out of place for an Animal Crossing game. Things like the minigames in New Leaf or the NES games in the Gamecube version are a great fit I think. Incorporating ideas like the catalog or journals sounds also nice, but I'm not sure if things like e-mails would go to far.

I think it would be interesting for minigames and such.

Or having an online catalog to order from? Maybe you could purchase items from other players that they have up for sale? That could be an interesting concept.

What if you can save and store some beloved letters from villagers into the computer with an email function?
That way you don't have to throw any away.
