Should I buy the pokemon shield expansion pass?

So I waited for shield to drop and I bought the game upon it's release date. I was impressed with the characters and animation. I got pretty tear through the story too. Now I waited months for the pass and now it's here but i'm not sure if I should by the pass or not. Oh and for some reason my switch acts up when I attemp to put in a new sd card! Like acnh and other games say some data is missing and needs to be downloaded like what's up with that?

I'm not very far along in the story, but I've liked it so far! I really don't want to spoil anything but it's a nice change of pace from ACNH because there's an actual storyline lol
My issue is that I don't recognize a lot of the returning pokémon, what I mean by this is that some of the pkmn are gen 1 and I'm so used to seeing them around in pkmn Let's Go! that I forget they're new to SWSH.... like I saw Abra floating around and I really though I already had one (because I do in let's Go! lol) so I kept avoiding them until I randomly encountered one and I didn't have one yet...

Are you making sure you turn off your console before switching out cards?

I think I might drop the 30 dollars for it when I get payed again. I miss playing pokemon. But no I don't turn off my console

That might be your issue, sometimes files can become damaged if you don't properly turn off you console before taking out the card... but I'm no expert, it's just what I know from experience.

From the videos I’ve seen, they say to shut off the switch all the way and power it off to avoid corrupt data. I’ve done this when taking screenshots and uploading them to my computer, and so far, so good

Yea I tried it earlier and nothing too bad just had to redownload stuff. Nothing was harmed!

I also have Shield and bought the expansion pack and I liked it. The new returning pokemon and them following you is pretty cute. Its not that long but its good. Plus there's the Crown Tundra releasing this fall that's packed with a lot of content.

Yes only at the island though. It should also be in the Crown Tundra DLC. Lots of Legendaries returning this fall also.

It comes with 2 DLCs with one coming later so you should buy it when you can! I'm excited for the next DLC

The animation for Pokemon following you sucks. They basically just reused the overworld encounter animations but out an invisible wall around the Pokemon so you can’t actually encounter them if you hit them, then they just follow you round stupidly slow and if you run too far ahead they just teleport

Game freak is pretty lazy tbh

I'm just mildly upset with Sw/Sh. They told us early the dex was too much to add. That pokemon would be curated to the game. Then they want me to buy what they told me was 'too much'? I love Pokemon but can't understand Game Freak.

It's almost insulting more that the New Pokemon Snap looks like the game I would have hoped they made.

I'll stick to the older games and wait to see what the next installment brings.

Honestly...it's really not worth the price...but, it is nice to have more usable Pokemon. The sad thing is, I doubt the price will ever drop. Nintendo content rarely comes down in price...not with full games or add-on content. That first-party stuff usually stays expensive indefinitely.

I mean depends, If you love breeding pokemon, shiny hunting and getting competitive ready pokemon or just collecting them then I'd say its worth it, its a nice big area that looks pretty cool with tons of new pokemon and legendaries. If your not really into that then don't buy it, you can still get all the pokemon you want from trading with other players, doing raids online or hacking them in.

I'm SO happy they're not making Snap. Theu would have butchered it.

Honestly I didn't get sword and shield because of Gamefreaks laziness and I'm so happy I didn't. I don't want Gamefreak to continue making crappy Pokemon games so I voted with my money to not buy it. I know I'm only one person but I hope others did too so Gamefreak would learn. Gamefreak outright lied and I'm not okay with that. They said they cut the Pokedex to make time for new animations. They literally reused the animations from the 3DS. Ridiculous. Now they're charging DLC for content that should have already been in the game. It's embarrassing.

Definitely worth it if you are a pokemon fan, it adds a lot more and it's so much fun seeing all the pokemon again. My other favourite is Pokemon Sun, where I pulled a shiny magikarp out of the water! That will continue to be my favourite memory of the game. Go for the expansion pass if you can afford it, it's a lot of fun.
