so, my mom's finally doing her christmas shopping today, and she told me to make her a list..
and the real question is; should i get animal crossing wild world? O_O
the veteran ac players have said that it's much more complicated than nl, for example, you'd have to send in your fossils one at a time and yeah .-.
i really want the game, but the thing is, is it actually worth buying??

Hard to say as Wild World is the AC game that started it all for me. I still love it but yes things like fossils and whatnot are way more tedious and things are a lot more primitive (ie small town, no island, lot less items etc.)

If you love AC and old games though it's a no brainer. I also find it a bit more challenging to make money and stuff too so it's great if you want a new challenge.

No. Unless you can find it somewhere for really cheap, it's not worth it unless you're a hardcore collector. If you plan on buying it for the sake of experiencing the game, you're going to be hugely disappointed. The game is really lacking in content, and is really outdated compared to the other titles. If you want to play an older AC game get the GC version, or play City Folk (regardless of what people say about it, it's a lot better than WW).

I have to agree with this. Unless you want to collect the AC games, I see no real reason to buy WW at this point.

Wild World was my first game and I'm still playing. There's not as much to do and the graphics are bad, but I like it. I know there's a Let's Play series on YouTube. Why not search for it and watch a little to see if it interests you?

I would say "no." It is really hard going backwards graphics wise and the older ones seem extremely limiting after NL.

The original Animal Crossing for the Gamecube has some features that NL doesn't have with makes it worth playing if you want to try one of the older games. WW is basically inferior to NL in every way.

I agree with this comment, tbh it's a bit more challenging in terms of making money, moving or collecting items, etc and graphics are lacking a bit. However, I think it's worth it. It's the game basically started my love for AC (probably was for most of the posters...), while it does has it's quips it's a nice game to play in general and relaxing (at least to me!) I still play it from time to time :]

I definitely recommend getting a used or cheap copy, you shouldn't buy a new copy because it going to be expensive and just in case you don't like it at least it didn't cost an arm and an leg. To see if you might like it try youtube videos or download an emulator and give it a try.

I recommend that you don't buy ACWW because the graphics are bad, not much to do compared to New leaf, plus earning money to pay off your house is extremely hard.

I probably played ACWW more than any other game in my childhood, and as many hours as I got out of it, I just cant go back and play it anymore. The graphics make me want to cry and New Leaf is pretty much the same thing but improved with new features.

If you go in knowing it won't have as much as new leaf, You will really enjoy it.

Ultimately it's a great game. I think it was the game that really launched the AC franchise in a way. Yes, the graphics are hard going back to after the slickness of New Leaf. Yes, Blathers can be a bit tedious when you are handing in your fossils every day. But it is at the core, a great game. The villagers are trickier and it's more challenging to get their tasks done. But it's fun. If you are going to be able to play it, then go for it.

I would, but for the love of mercy, play it on a DS, the 3DS makes it look insanely awful! I think when it's put on the bigger screen just adds to the fact that the DS was WAY under-powered compared to a 3DS. It's got no real world holidays, but MUCH more cleverly written dialog, it's the first in the series to introduce the sky (prior games on the 64 and GC only used reflections), as well as that rolling log effect. It's historic and nostalgic to those of us who played it 10 years ago, but remember it's been 10 years now, so it's clearly dated! For that matter, New Leaf came out 3 years ago, HHD is already showing up NL by quite a bit- they're even on the same system!!

No way! I think it looks much better on my 3DS XL than my DS Lite. It's also much easier on my hands.

I'd play it, even if it's just because of the nostalgia. Even if it doesn't have as many new features as AC:NL, it's still a great game which brings me back so many childhood memories. If you keep in mind that it's over a decade old, I think that you can enjoy the experience of playing it a lot.

Yeah you can get it if you likeee, I had wild world and it was fun and enjoyable. Though it's a good way to catch up on the previous games, it can be a little but harder than the new series since it has a whole new concept and content but not too different I guess since it remains with the whole animal crossing theme/idea. So, yeah try it I find that each animal crossing game has a different story and main point so it is nice to have a feel for each of them
