So I finally got blue roses recently and can now just breed those to get more. Unfortunately, because of the long process of breeding them in the first place, my island is overrun with pink and orange roses. I've tried to trade them for very common wishlist items but it seems no one is biting. At this point I just want to be rid of them. Is it even worth waiting til someone wants to trade for them or do people no longer want these flowers? I feel guilty just trashing them but I need space to start terraforming. What have you guys noticed when selling flowers?
Honestly most of the easier to get hybrids sell for essentially nothing now, and trashing them is usually the way to go. You could always do a give away in Nook's Cranny for them as an alternate. I've been trashing extra orange roses and black roses recently to do a mini overhaul of my island.
I trash my extras! I need to clean them up again. There will always be someone an abundance of them when another person needs them. But maybe pluck some of them first for crafting purposes. I only really feel bad about trashing the rarer ones (Usually I try to find new owners for those) but I mainly give extras to friends.
I got overrun by hybrids back when I did the campsite method. I was hesitant at first, but I asked myself if I really needed that many. So in the end, I trashed it.
I agree with everyone above, you should probably just trash them! I know I should trash a lot of the flowers that overrun my own beaches, but I’m stuck in the mentality of “oh, I don’t know, you might want to use these to decorate at some point...” RIP
I have just placed a trash can in my flower field just to easily trash them without running all the way to Nook's cranny all the time. (flower field is most northeast, nook's most southwest of the island ). And well.. with millions of bells and nothing to spend them on those few extra bells don't really make a big difference so just throw them away.
I've tried to give them away here first and sometimes people want some or when someone was looking for anything specific like black tulips I was glad I could remove 40 of them... but then if you keep waiting for someone else here to ask for flowers and there are days of rain on your island you have them back in no time and can start over again. There's not really a big market for most flowers except the few you need for some recipes
i gave away over 100 flowers on discord a while back because my island was filled with flowers. it wasn't super easy though because i guess people don't really want flowers (at least those i tried getting rid of) that much, but after a while i found someone to take like 80 hybrids off my hands.
honestly if you don't find anyone, just trash them. if you have no use for them you can do whatever you want with them.
I was really hesitant to get rid of my hybrids at first but now I clean them out like it’s nothing. It’s so easy to clone them once you’ve got at least one of each colour!
Since hybrid flowers pretty much have no value now since everyone has them, I trash mine and have just kept a few. At first it pained me to do so but after a while I don’t really feel like I’m wasting them when I sell them off to Nooks or just get rid of them via trash can. I just make sure to leave at least 2 pairs of each so that in the future if I do want to have more of one kind of flower it’d be easy for me to do so.
If I’m overrun with anything such as items, hybrid flowers, or materials, I’d open my island for others to pick-up for free. They can grab a few hybrids, DIYs, and stop by the shops. A lot of people like to browse flea market style.
I’m not an active trader though. It‘s easier to sell them unless I know someone may be looking for them. Not bothered by it!
Since flowers don't die in ACNH, the common hybrids are basically worthless, so I would bin or just sell them.
Definitely feels weird and strange after previous installments of the game!
I trashed a lot of my non hybrid flowers and sold the hybrid ones to Timmy and Tommy. I didnt want to, but they took up so much space and prevented me from being able to decorate the large area that they were being stored in.
I trashed 90%+ of my hybrids before starting my island re-haul. Before this, I had also given my IRL friend one of each hybrid type so she could clone them on her own island.
Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to give hybrids away if they are getting in your way, especially if it rains on your island and you are left to deal with the aftermath (i.e. hybrid infestation). Do what you need to do to enjoy the game.
