Simple Islands?

I forgot to add that I hate islands that are set up like mazes where you can't figure out how to get around cause there is a specific path and everything else is blocked off. and its even worse when there is a lot of bushes, hedges etc so you cant even see the one path you have. i have gone to dream islands(in nl and nh) and left immediately cause of that crap

I have a great appreciation for people who take the time to build their islands like this. It looks amazing, and you can tell that they took great care with looking at the details and whatever else. I will say, though, I personally get overwhelmed, especially if I get "stuck" or cannot find a way out from a path I took.

My island is "almost" completely flat. The only elevated area is my house and a tiny space for my campsite. I've visited islands that are beautiful and multi-level, but I place ease of navigation above all else.

I'm somewhere in the middle. I like to design certain parts, like a downtown shopping district, but it's not overly built up as some I've seen. I also like to have "untouched" areas that look wild to keep a balance. I don't want to have an urban island. I carefully curate anything outside to make sure there's not too much clutter, and also enough room to move around and not feel claustrophobic. I did arrange villager houses, but they are still in a non-linear layout. I don't have the time or patience so create some of the extremely elaborate and cluttered islands. Plus, the game really lags if you do that, so that breaks the experience for me. So, I try to keep a balance.
